Wayne has said that he wouldn't rule out the possibility of hiring a college coach as the next Dolphins head coach, if so...how about Chris Petersen, the coach of Boise State. The play calling was incredible to say the least in the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma in that Instant Classic stunner. That hook and ladder was right out of Don Shula's playbook and you gotta love all those trick plays. The NFL is so boring right now and lacks ingenuity, all the coaches play close to the vest and the players look like robots out there....time to spice the attack up. :dolphins:

Check out this great article in case you missed the Fiesta Bowl which was the best game since the 2002 National Championship game.

in the nfl, none of those plays he called to win that game would have worked.

      Ah ha, two guys who support Dave Wannstedt style of offense.

The man he beat, Bob Stoops is a more likely candidate. I also find it hard to believe there has been no talk of Weis or Kirk Ferentz of Iowa.

NONONONO!!!

How many college coaches have to fail miserably in the NFL before you realize that college coaches arent NFL coaches. Its two different things. The exceptions are to far and few to think we can realistically find one. Luck and situation are about all that can get a college guy going in the NFL.

No retreads, no college. NO!

There's no way for you to know that, and that's way too assumptive. Marcus Vick could have been the WR to line-up and take the snap, while CPep runs out to WR spot, and Vick throws to McMichael. Most NFL coaches would've said, "Get the 1st and run outta bounds" when it's 4th and 18 on your own 40 with less than 20 seconds left... then next, the traditional hail mary or jump ball. This guy went with the old hook and lateral instead! The guy is smart, and proved to be a great coach... when's the last time you saw any team attempt those type of plays? It's a forgotten art is all... no one tries it any more. Of course you don't try that stuff all the time... but when a team is down to it's last bullet, you must get creative and pull out ALL the stops. We need a bold, confident, creative coach exactly like that. No, he won't be our coach. But I wouldn't mind him...

We can rule it out until we're blue in the face, but we have no say. WH already said he can and will consider a college coach, so we might as well hope for "our" college guy, or speculate accordingly. I am with you that we shouldn't go with a college coach, btw... but just because I might have a top choice IF having to choose from college coaches, doesn't mean I don't have a different choice for my preferred and overall #1.

Uh, theres been no talk of those guys because the University of Miami job has already been filled. We are talking about the Miami Dolphins job.

Dan Hawkins just left Boise State last year to become head coach at Colorado....sorry, I don't see another guy bolting from BSU.
