What if, Ryan Tannehill kicks royal ass come preseason scrimmages: What happens then? Hmm?

Let's keep him out for he is just a rook or play him from the first snap of the season because of his play during the preseason?

Can Ryan Tannehill's performance on the field during preseason games tell the tale of who, regardless of pro experience or not, will start as QB in 2012?

Or am I jumping the gun? :idk:

For me, I will let the guy sit it out for the season. Now! If we start off on a losing streak, then plug him in - put the dude on the field.

That's my angle. Your view?

I read this on CBS Sports site:

Still, only Matt Moore and David Garrard are in front of him on the depth chart. And even though Moore played well during the second half of the 2011 season, the team obviously doesn't consider him a long-term solution. Now the only question is when Tannehill will convince the coaches that he's ready.

May the best man win, i dont mind who it is aslong as we win games...............

if he wins the the 1 spot he should start. you put the best player in. if he beats out two vets why wouldnt you start him?

If he wins the job, then he will start. Ireland said that on the radio.

Ireland and Philbin have been making noises about 'the best guy in camp' getting to start. I know most people feel Tannehill should sit for a while before being thrown to the wolves, but if it's true that Matt Moore is not a good practice player, I think there's a very real possibility we see Tannehill week 1.

Whether this would be good or bad, remains to be seen.

My personal preference would to have Tannehill sit for the year if possible. But the more info that comes out about his knowledge of the playbook and WCO, it sure seems like he is way beyond the expected learning curve, so many say he needs, due to his lack of college game experience. This misconception he played WR his 1st 2 years at Texas A&M and is not ready seems on the surface to have merit, until you realize, he did his film studies, game prep and practice time, up until Thursdays with the QB's; than on Friday he did his walk through with the WR and played WR during the game on Saturday's. Tannehil IMO is alot more ready than we fan's are being lead to believe, the only thing stopping him from starting game #1 is Tannehill himself or Philbin's desire to have him sit to continue his development!!!

if he earns it and beats out the others, i say start him! but only if its actually on merit...

I say start him. I am tired of waiting and i think the kid can do it.

Well once again I am in the minority. I personally don't want a better QB, and good player, or 9-7 season this year. What I want is a GREAT QB, a GREAT player and a superbowl down the road. Now before you blast me, I will agree that there is no proof that throwing a QB to the wolves is going to kill his chances to be great, but the more I watch tape on this kid the more I see the potential for him to be something really special. The only way I can see him NOT making it big is if he gets his confidence blown so bad that it affects his passion for the game. Now before you say that is impossible I have to tell you that neither I nor you nor anyone else who hasn't played at the professional level can really imagine what it would be like to give your heart, soul, and every waking hour in the pursuit of greatness towards something, and then read in the paper every week that you are a no talent, overated, bum. Knowing that not only you, but also your wife and your family are hearing how you SUCK and how people hate you and people wish you have never came to town. Remember this guy is human, and not just human but a 22 year old. You can tell me how you they are told not to read the press and all that crap but there is no way that isn't going to affect you.

I really don't think we as fans understand the pressure we put on young atheletes. Ryan is a top 10 pick, by a team that hasn't used a 1st pick on a QB since Marino. Ryan was picked within a 6 picks of Luck and Griffin and every pass every win, loss, TD, and interception is going to be compared to how they did. Add to it that we have very little in the way of WR talent, a new right side of the OL, a new system, and new HC. Last year Andy Dalton went to a much more talented offense and had a magical year for a rookie. But he finished with a 80 QB rating. If Ryan came in and had a similiar year there would still be some around here saying "yeah but Moore had a much better year the year before".

What I am saying is no one is taking us to the super bowl this year, and I think everyone would agree there is a great chance our offense in 2013 will have more talent than the unit we field in 2012. Sitting a year will get him better up to speed, more experience handling the media, more time to get talent around him, and more time to learn the game. There won't be as much comparision to Luck and RG3 if we wait either. I can't imagine a situation where in 5 years we look back and say "WOW, we should have let him start rather than sitting him for a year", but I can easily see a situation where in 5 years we look back and say, "WOW maybe we SHOULD have let him sit a year.

I just think with his potential he is worth the wait. I guess it really comes down to this, what do YOU want for this team?? Do you want to be good again and a part of the playoff talk again, or do you want to be GREAT with some rings?? I want to see him play as much as anyone, but I think the safe bet is to let him SIT.

I think tannehill's style is to walk into the coaches office at some point and tell him he is the best QB on the roster and to put him on the field. My guess is after the bye week.

out of all the qbs that have come out ryan has the edge and is set up for success. just think, if come in and has success, think what that would do for him in the long run. also remember aikman and manning where thrown in and had horrible first years and bounced back. so the argument can go ether way. he is going into camp number 3 and has an advantage in the physical tools and athletic ability, but not experince, but also has the most experience running the wco.
so let the best man win, and right now the edge is in ryans corner. i was all about him sitting this year but the best learning tool is experience, something he wont get sitting this year.
