Now with Henning aboard as the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator, are we going to be a run first type of team? Looking at his offense in Carolina, they ran the ball a hell of a lot. Personally I think this would be good for us because we have a o.k. o-line and a couple of great and good running back. Ronnie Brown, assuming he comes back from injury 100 percent, is awesome. Ricky Williams looked good for the couple of carrys during Pittsburgh game. Jesse Chatman proved he can be a great number 2 back and Lorenzo Booker was also great as a reciever and a running back. Thoughts?

Its really no different - were all used to it, except for last year, the dolphins have always been a run first team.. Since the late 90's through 2006...

Well, had the Patriots won the Superbowl, I would be poo pooing all over the notion of a run first offense. But the Giants winning has provided continue merit to the notion of great running game and defense wins championships.

I'm all for continuing to be a run first ball control offense....as long as we can gain yardage and put points on the board....beat the opposing team down in the trenches,oh yeah,i'm DEFINITELY all for that!!!!!

I just got excited about the chance to have a quick striking scoring offense like the Colts or Rams have. But if we need to get back to basics with a strong defense and power running game to get into the playoffs, im all for that too... I just want to win

That's the whole trick. Ball control "offenses" that go 3 and out 78% of the time and you have to hope and pray for your defense or special teams to score a TD to even stand a chance of winning don't work out so well.

Sounds good to me.

I like this move. I think we will be about 65% run and 35% pass.

At least now that they have Ginn, this is a possibility! :D

Every offensive coordinator in the NFL would love to have the 82 Chargers offense, but unless you have a QB that proves he's capable of putting the ball up in the air 30+ attempts without killing your team it's not the best way to win football games. Look at Mike Martz for an example. Turnover differential is the single biggest indicator of wins and losses in the NFL.

When Henning has had QB's he felt were capable of putting the ball in the air a lot of times without killing the team, he's had extremely aggressive teams. Look at Testeverde's pass attempts in 2000 or Delhomme in 2004.

That's not a very good description of a "Ball Control" offense.

I want them to run a balance offense 50/50. Dan henning is not the Head Coach, Sporano so I expect us to run an offense like the cowboys that is much balance.

One of the biggest things that encouraged me about Sparano was a quote by him saying that he's going to make the system fit the players, rather than try to make the players fit the system. It's that kind of adaptability that allowed Shula to have success with both run-oriented (such as with Kiick, Csonka, and Morris) and pass-oriented offenses (such as with Marino). Dungy is a another good example, first at TB (whose O relied heavily on the run) and then at Indy (Manning... need I say more?). Then there are those, such as JJ when he coached here who was bound and determined to have a run-heavy offense in Miami no matter what and Al Davis, who keeps on insisting on trying to have a vertical passing attack.
