A Saturday Game Still Could Be Shown

Guys,

If you remember, two weeks ago DirectTV could not televise the game becuase CBS had the rights to it. CBS would not televise the game becuase of the money they had invested into the US Open. Unless there is some "great" sporting event or other televised event, I would anticipate CBS airing the game as it would surely have higher ratings than some boring sitcom etc.

Your thoughts?

No, absolutely not... it was the FCC rules against coming into conflict with NCAA football games.. too much money involved + Congress

this has been covered already. It violates a law - the NFL is not allowed to show any games after 9 p.m. on friday and before 12 p.m. on sunday (or something to that effect)... it interferes with collegiate games.

Last time, It was reported that an agreement that the law wouldnt be enforced for that game, the only reason it wasnt shown on cbs was the us open. I dont recall what site it was that had the article, i think it was espn or sportsline, I'll try to find a link and post it.

The NFL asked for, and received, a waiver from the NCAA for those local areas. This is the 100% truth

My thoughts are that CBS has the Saturday afternoon SEC football package and that if they pre-empt that for a rescheduled NFL game between two lower-tier teams, CBS can kiss that package goodbye as soon as the SEC attorneys can file their lawsuit at the courthouse.

I know these guys are quacks most the time but if you want to read their take that has some references to the actual US Code covering broadcast rights this is a good article.
