First and foremost, i am not apart of the "fire sparano! fire parcells! blah blah blah" deal, this just kinda makes me think.

Now, look at the top teams in each conference respectively, in the NFC you got the Saints(11-0), Vikings(10-1), Cowboys(8-3), and the Cardinals(7-4). And in the AFC you got the Colts(11-0), Bengals(8-3), Chargers(8-3), and the Patriots(7-4).

What do all these teams have in common? They all have above average QB's and atleast one above average reciever on their team, whether it is a WR or a TE. Every team is a pass first team, even the vikings now with brett favre. And because they are a pass first team, most of their run games are decent, most impressively the Saints.

Parcells teams are never known for 60 yard TD bombs. They are always big, knock ya in the mouth teams. Personally, i love that kind of football but i hate to admit that the NFL is becoming a "throwing league". With all these preposterous penalties being admitted into the NFL now-n-days, it is almost impossible to stop a passing team without eventually getting a roughing the passer or pass interference penalty. Both these penalties can change the momentum in a drive.

Seeing as i am so young, i never had the experience of watching the 70's and 80's football games, which now with the NFLN, i can watch and i just LOVE IT! i wish football was still like that but it isnt.

I think Parcells has to think about what he is creating here. Running the ball all day is a good thing but the passing game is so anemic, that when there is a holding penalty or false start, it is almost impossible for this team to make amends for that penalty.

Barring something magical, this team will more than likely miss the playoffs and what i want to see in the off-season is a strive to make the passing offense better, whether that is a WR or a recieving threat at TE. i want one or the other this off-season. But i dont want to waste drafts picks on either of them because i think the draft should be focused on defense only.

I completely agree. The rule changes over the past few years have made it much easier to pass and we should take advantage of that.

imo, you need the ability to run and pass. the Dolphins may not be there yet, but these things take time.

We run the football right now because it's what's best for the talent we have right now. Our oldest WR has 4 years in the league (G.Cam) and a QB that needs to be slowly unleashed. I would be very surprised if we didn't attack the best FA WR next off season, I don't see us drafting another one unless a guy falls hard to us because that's another young guy that won't really help us for a couple years.

Even the top teams have excellent run games though......

NO runs the ball % wise more then anyone in the league in the 2nd half. Minnesota has the best back in football, the Cowboys have three excellent RB's they just get pass happy at times and usually those are the games they lose, Ariz is running the ball more then ever now with Hightower and Wells, the Bengals pound the rock. Indy losses in the playoffs all the time because of a lack of run game and defense, SD would run the ball more but their just not getting the blocking they did years ago, Pitts has a stud in Mendenhall but still a pretty poor oline and NE's Maroney has been solid and their now getting F.Taylor back.

Look at the NYG their struggling this year when their passing attack is better then ever with Smith, Nicks, Boss, Manningham, Dixon and Moss but their struggling to run the football. The NYJ picked up a number WR and it has done nothing for them but I guess that's on Sanchise.

My point is yes you have to throw to win in this league, it is no longer 4yards and a cloud of dust. But come playoff time these teams will depend heavily on the run game to carry them to a Superbowl. That is why I really believe Minnesota or NO will end up winning it all because for all the hype of the QB's they both run the ball really well and I give the edge to Minnesota for having such a great defense.

Our offense would be great with a good passing game. The FO better get some WR's this off season.

Yes, I guess what I'm trying to saying is BP starts with the Lines and run game, he doesn't start with pass game. It will be filled this year in FA but since in the playoffs you need the run game that's the smartest way to go first. BP is building this team to consistantly be a playoff team and a successful one when it gets there and that means a excellent run game and a punishing defense.

I don't believe he has an old view in the game as some have suggested. He has his priorities in place and follows them, people just have not been patient enough to see the big picture. You can't solve every problem in two offseasons, atleast not the problems a 1-15 team has anyways.

Even if we somehow find a #1 wide receiver Sparano and Company
have to start changing there offensive philosophy

The only thing punishing about this defense is watching them fail in the 4th quarter over and over again:boohoo:

Look, the problems on defense can be solved with an elite NT, pure and simple. Wilfork or Franklin have to be the targets in FA, the guys the FO goes after hard, because they're already elite at a young age for their position.

The Fins have a bunch of receivers that aren't complete enough in every physical and skill aspect to be the guy you put against double coverage and still make the explosive plays. That must be addressed in the draft and on the first day, no question.
