The only thing worse then Miami's performance is the over reaction by their soposed fans. I couldn't even post yesterday because I wouldn't have known where to start. What is worse is that the majority of the crying is coming from the same people who claimed in the off-season that Miami gets no respect and why is the media already crowning the Patriots. To think that on more then one occasion I've been accused of being a NE fan by these nihilists is a joke. If being a Fin Fan = over reacting because of one loss then perhaps I should change loyalties.

- On Jake Long's Performance -

Was owning J.Abraham's speed rush untill he got killed by the bull rush (on only one play people). Don't his critics contend it should be the other way around? Did get beat outside by K.Biermann which never should have happened. Crushed guys in the running game like always.

- On Jake Long vs. M.Ryan -

Both were great picks for both teams. I don't think it is to early to judge them however it is foolish to judge them on one game. Matt will be a top 5 Qb in this league, while Jake will be the #1 run blocker and top 5 pass blocker. Both just need to work on consistency, we all saw Ryan make mistakes yesterday too.

- On Chad Pennington -

We all know what we get in Chad, and we all know his deficiencies. His biggest problem isn't his arm strength, it is when he tries to do to much. Miami won last year because of his leadership and game management, yesterday however he was trying to be a playmaker, and that led to the early fumble and the pic.

- On why the Trifecta is smarter then me and you-

Parcells and Co. didn't draft a rookie QB(Ryan) to get killed by a 1-15 offensive line. They drafted a mauling LT(Long) who would change the identity of the team(power running). Jake was the best runblocker in the draft and a good passblocker, and if they took Matt then they would have had to draft LT soon after, and that probably means no Merling or maybe Langford. They also didn't draft a small, noodle arm QB(C.Pennington), they drafted a tall, strong QB(C.Henne) to be the man of the future. This team isn't built to be great today, it is still rebuilding and planning for the future.

- On why Fin Fans overreact -

Miami is one of the proudest franchises, but has suffered terribly in the last decade. Just as Sparano preached about changing the culture of his team after the 1-15 season, as fans we need to change as well. I have seen nothing in the past year and 3 months that would suggest the Dolphins are not on the right track, and I have the patience to endure the negatives and the confidence to enjoy the positives. Trust me this team is only going to get better.

You should have posted yesterday we could have used the common sense.

How long has it been since we've won a seasn opener. Feels like an eon!

Yeah, my heart longs for those wonderful days when we'd crush opponents in the season opener, get out to 6-2, and then fizzle in December and miss the playoffs.

We're in year 2 of the Tony Sparano era. Year 1 was a resounding success.

It's gonna be ok people!!

Not that I completely disagree with you here, but when is Miami going to start showing they are a power running team? They talk the talk, but do not walk the walk. They do not make a commitment to being that power running team. Instead they start running then they get cute, and when it works great, but when it doesn't it's very ugly. If they want to be a cute team then get faster more adgile linemen, they have the linemen to be a power running team and 10 atempts (1 from White and 1 from Ginn) in the first half is not a team that wants to establish the run.

Just so you have your stats correct Pennigton is 6'3", 230lbs, Henne is 6'3", 230lbs. We all know Penny does not have the best arm but he and Henne are indetical size.

Post of the year job right here, short and sweet to the point. I dont understand the over reaction to jake longs game. Hes still very young and so what, he got beat on 2 plays, get over it. He was a beast as usual in run game.

Alot of fans did over overreact over the things you listed but i overreacted because i didn't expect for the dolphins to open the season like that especially with the schedule we have !

Let's be realistic. This line needs time to become a unified force, especially the interior. Grove has to adjust from a zone blocking system, as well as get used to both guards. Thomas is still pretty much a rookie and Smiley was injured for half of the year. As Sparano said in todays PC, they need to learn to communicate better with their bodies, which can only be done by working together.

You are nitpicking, which is fine, but the point is that Pennington does not play like a big, strong QB, Henne does. Henne right now just isn't playing like a good one(based on preseason).

I'm not nitpicking at all you stated "They also didn't draft a small, noodle arm QB(C.Pennington), they drafted a tall, strong QB(C.Henne) to be the man of the future. This team isn't built to be great today, it is still rebuilding and planning for the future." I was just pointing out stature wise Pennigton and Henne are identicle. If you are going to throw out blasting statements about people you should probably get your facts straight. Where were you last year when Penny was leading this team to an 11-5 season.

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Henne homer and thought he was the best QB in the draft and at some point he will be the QB of this team, but Penny getting sacked or pressure 22 out of 33 drop backs has nothing to do with his arm or he is a "small" QB. You had a very good post until there, but you just pulled that comment out of your exterior and I called you on it. Other than that I agreed with your post.

Thoughtful post although I have some disagreements. If we're taking a step back, which seems to be the popular consensus, then despite how feel good our "one and done" playoff" experience was last season, other than that, it will have been essentially meaningless. If that turns out to be the case, I'm thinking maybe signing Pennington was a mistake. Henne had the job won and either we'd have been slurping him like some do Ryan or would now know whether we'd need to go to a "Plan B."

But your point is well-taken; and that's exactly why I most often purposely avoid FH for at least 24 hours after a demoralizing loss.

So you are calling me a "supposed" dolphin fan and I am still here. I support the dolphins by buying their merchandise and their season tickets. I give them credit when they do good, I have my eyes and can form my own educated opinion on the subject matter. I think I am justified when I say that I am worried about Jake long because of the mistakes he has been making all throughout the preseason and carrying over to the season opener.

I am not saying Jake Long is a bust, or that we should have picked Matt Ryan instead of him but I am VERY worried that what we saw yesterday will continue to happen during the rest of the season.

Basically you just called me out for over-reacting but who are you to do so? I am still here, I will still continue to support the dolphins as I please.

Bro, calm down. My response to you was,

Physically they maybe similar in stature, but their posture, arm strength, and velocity arn't. If you think they are then where were you last season, during OTA's, training camp, pre-season and yesterday. Anyways, I appreciate you pointing out that I should be more specific when posting. Instead of "small," I should have wrote, "plays small."
