If the Miami Dolphins of 2005 are ever going to get on a roll, it HAS to start this week in Cleveland -- a team we should be able to handle.

If we lose this game, then I really must insist that the veterans not named JT or ZT are not the answer and we'd be better off getting younger across the board.

But I digress...

Anyhow, looking at this match-up, the first thing that sticks out to me is that both Cleveland guards could miss this game -- Andruzzi and Coleman. Add to that, LT L.J. Shelton is no longer very good, and it tells me our front seven could really abuse their protections and disrupt their run blocking.

The essay above states that the passing game is losing confidence in Northcutt and Bryant, and it may start looking toward Braylon Edwards this week. I do hope the Dolphins are aware and not overlooking him by sticking Howard or someone on him.

They're also transitioning to more and more 3-4 looks on defense, and do not have the personnel to make it work. Their run defense is not very good, so we should expect another 35-40 carry week from R&R. Not forced, either, but because it will WORK.

Two hard-fought home defeats had better have Miami really angry and hungry. If they come out flat, or dumb (penalties) against this very beatable opponent (especially on defense), I'm through with listening to the excuses about the veterans. Saban should know what he has by now, and they have to produce in this spot at least. The '96 Jaguars started 3-6, and they won out until the AFC Championship game.

This is a team (quarterbacked by Trent Dilfer!!) that we CAN and need to beat up on and build a lot of confidence against. Otherwise, we're not making progress. I don't want another 10-7 victory with a field goal in the last minute (last year's horrendous encounter). I really expect a two-touchdown victory and a physical beating handed out on the road.

Anyone who still dismisses another lackluster effort this week with "Relax, it can't happen overnight" needs to really toughen up. There are no excuses this week. If we can't beat the Cleveland Browns, we're no better than the Cleveland Browns. And I really think we ARE better, and need to show it.

If that's not the case, then in the famous words of Todd Bertuzzi: "It is what it is."

good post, but i dont see the pressing need for a win. if you are talking about the possibility of the fins going 6-1, then yeah, they need this game

well, it can be done... and the glass-half-full people around here seem to think our patchwork veteran FAs are good enough... it's time for that to come to fruition...

â€â€The loss to New England did put a major crimp in Miami's playoff hopes, but 13 teams who had a .500 or worse record after nine games have made the playoffs since 1990. Three of those squads - the 1994 New England Patriots, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1996 Jacksonville Jaguars - had marks of 3-6 before turning around their seasons.

This has been in our past the one key aspect of how our season goes, the defining moment of...bouncing back after a tough loss that has the potential to linger. I am truly afraid of this game, not because of Cleveland, but because of how we have answered in the past. It's gut check time and as you said if we are going to get on a roll it HAS to start this weekend! A 2 TD victory would be a good start to a roll but more importantly to me it would show their heart and ability to bounce back from a tough loss! It will be a tough atmosphere and tough conditions on the road but hopefully we are UP to it!

intersting, though i would like to see what division records those teams had.

i agree that the team will get a late season rally. the fins have been really unfortunate. im mean, 3 games inside the red zone to tie and fail. that doesnt happen often.

im obviously rooting for it, but i have to take a more casual attitude from this point on. last week was really hard to swallow

Sunny and 50! Wow maybe not such tough conditions! The Football Gods are smiling on us already!;)

Great post... I agree with most of it.

Just one thing:

Cool. Someone who has looked at the odds and tie breakers.

This is a great post, we have been in many games down the very end which should tell us we arent that far off. If a few players actually make a few plays we are looking at a completely different scenario. We ARE better than the Browns, this needs to be a statement game for the offense. They need to come out rolling, the OL needs to step it up in run blocking and start pushing people around. Linehan needs to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers and those are mainly in the backfield. I would love to see our RB's as a whole get 45 to 50 touches. Let gus really pick his shots, if its not there CHECK IT DOWN! The defense should be fairly dominant in this game, particularly if they are missing both G's. I would love to see Taylor and Carter in the backfield ALL GAME. If we can get pressure with just 4, then the blitz becomes that much more effective.

The Dolphins should win this game easily.....let me write that again....The Dolphins should win this game easily. No excuses.

Bro I hear you on this in totally agree. I was looking at there ranking this morning, but you may want to email this to Scott Linehan so he can get a clue.

well, the ultimate ultimate reality slap for anyone who thought this team was improving with all the patchwork veterans.... like i said, anyone over 28?: clean house....
