Q: The man who beat out David Garrard for a starting QB position the last time that Garrard was in the NFL.

You guys seriously want your starting QB to be a guy who got outplayed by Luke McCown? :idk: And this is the guy you think is better than last years team MVP Matt Moore or a prospect that had a top 10 grade like Tannehill. Get Real.

Could have been that Garrard was not a fit in the offensive style or Luke was just a better fit. If David is our starter than we can only hope that the coaches know what's best, the question will be how many losses before RT is brought in the fill some seats.
 
I don't know if he should be the starter or not but isn't it possible that he played poorly that training camp & preseason because he was dealing with the back injury that ended up keeping him out the entire 2011 season?
 
What's the point of this post??? Luke McCown is not on this roster... Garrard has different coaches, running backs, receivers, and the most important - Motivation

We had his brother Josh. Luke was a guy that looked to have a lot of upside for a while.
 
Point is, David Garrard is garbage. Luke McCown, Josh McCown..... not good either way.
 
Garrard had a bulging disc in his back. Calm down WV Dolfan and get used to seeing a lot of Garrard this year.

As this article states, Garrard was injured at the start of August.

The Jaguars first preseason game was on August 11th in 2011. Garrard's injury took place a week before the first preseason game, so that is hardly getting "beat out"

Of course he got injured and was due a substantial amount of money. His own teammates said he got "fat and happy" after signing that big contract in 08. His not being a team player is what got him injured. That injury and being beaten out by Luke McCown were all a result of him being a selfish player who is basically a locker room cancer. Thats what got him cut. And now the phins want to roll with this guy? Really?
 
I think part of the reason why McCown "won" the job is because cutting Garrard saved the Jaguars $9 million last season. Also probably had something to do with his back injury that eventually caused him to have surgery. Assuming Garrard wins the job, he is only a stop gap until they turn things over to Tannehill. If Garrard is healthy though he can play pretty good, not great, but pretty good. He actually had pretty good seasons in 2009 and 2010.
