Hey guys,
Big Time fan from WV here.

I am just wanting to get some info. on Jake Long?
Up here is WV we have not gotten a single dolphins game on tv.
I am seeing where he is looking like he may make the pro-bowl as a rookie tackle. That is AWESOME!

I was hoping some of you guys could take some time to let me know what aspects he is doing so well in. What he still needs to work on. And compare him to rookies like Joe Thomas and Orlando Pace. I am really excited about him but have not gotten to see him play yet.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated....
 
if you ask your fellow West Virginian...WVdolphan..he can tell you how to watch every game,even in WV...his location is Beckley,WV....so i don't know how much difference there is in where you 2 are located...
 
Thanks a lot that was a very appreciated reply. But what about a comparison between him and the other elite rookie left tackles in the league that have been drafted. Joe Thomas, Orlando Pace, and others. The real ?. Does he deserve to make the pro-bowl as a rookie.

I'll be honest i had a dream draft last year and I flew to NY to watch it. It was Brady Quinn in the first and Sydney Rice in the 2nd. I would have loved that. I also remember when Ginn was a freshman at Ohio State wishing that Miami would have him one day. So I am still hoping that works out. But I want to think we made the best #1 selection this year. And if he is making the pro-bowl it looks like we did.
 
How many sacks has Long let in already through the season? Are we still at 3 ?

I think so, which is still insane for a rookie. I know everybody makes a big deal about Clady (who may still have no sacks), who is really good, but the zone block scheme Denver uses inflates his stats.

Jake Long is leading in Pro Bowl balloting, so that tells you what not just Dolphins fans think, but what other NFL fans think as well.

I think he was the one that gave up the safety to Oakland. I remember seeing him fall down in the background when Penny got sacked. In my opinion, Long looks great. He still looks a little rough in pass blocking, but I'm pretty sure that will get a lot better with time.

Jake was handled on that play looked like a bull rush... he lost is balanceand never recovered..., overall Jake is picking up the tendencies of his opponeents and they are doing the same to him..., I bet that he is going to reap grade dividends as teh no.1 overall..

Although Jake got whipped on that play, it was actually Carey's man, Jay Rchardson who made the sack on Pennington.

I agree that Jake looks a little rough in pass blocking at times but he has been solid most of the time. What I think he has got to work on is his hand placement and stop letting the defender get his hands inside of his.
 
i heard it was 2.5 sacks let up so far but i could be wrong as i live in ohio and dont see much of the games other than the ones i watch on the internet. Everyone knew coming into the season that jake was a hoss run blocker and a good pass blocker and he has shown exactly that. I love when they run to the right and swing him around to block for the RB. He struggles a bit with speed pass rushers but he will improve on that and i think he deserves to be a probowler.
 
He did get beat on the safety but the sack/safety would have happened even if Long had done everything perfectly

I have to go to my local sports bar to watch the games, Miami hasn't made it on local T.V. even once this year in Louisville, thank GOD for NFL Ticket.

PS To answer your question, Coach Sporano consistently grades him out as the best OL in the game.

Thats odd. They are on my tv EVERYTIME. Check your reception again.

Anyways, if that dosent work.....go to Keglers or SportsPage. They have all the games there. If you need directions, let me know.
