Are you guys happy I was out for a couple of days a 5th seems a good bet for this kid

This guy has a tremendous upside, hes huge, with a little help he can become the ancor of that d-line, and if he for any reason doesnt work out, hey it was only a fifth......

I agree with you on this one. A big guy with that much "upside" is without a doubt worth taking a shot with. This is the type of bold move that could really pay off and improve the team big time. If he doesn't pan out, it isn't exactly a disaster, with only a fifth round pick. I like it, and I like what this says about the staff.

I was somewhat pessimistic about this yesterday due to his workouts, but after reading that he may have tweaked his shoulder prior to the workout and had toughed out the workout after tweaking his hamstring I am hoping for the best. Still concerned about his character but hopefully he proves everyone wrong and gives us a penetrating tackle for the Saban era defense

Some had him rated as the first or 2nd DT for next years draft. Some had him as high as a late first or early 2nd round pick for next years draft, so giving up a 5th seems like a steal. Saban is probably not expecting much contribution out of him this year, but by him being on the practice squad for this year and having the whole next years offseason, by the time that 5th round we spent comes around he maybe the steal of NEXT years draft. We just have to look at him as being next years 5th round pick that got a chance to get some on the job training. I think by next year he could get some solid playing time, if his work ethic comes around.

Say what ya want about the character of some of the guys Saban has brought in but you can't argue with the talent level. Some had Crowder, and Roth as being 1st round talent, and now you add this guy, if just 2 of the 3 pan out they could really reshape our defense. Lets keep our fingers crossed that they work out.

he can't go on the practice squad. Teams can claim your practice squad players as long as they go on their rosters. He would get "scooped" right up off the practice squad. He will have to make the final 53 man roster to stay in Miami.

If you listen to his ex D line coach he reckons that he would have been a top ten pick next year. So it must be worth a 5th rnd pick this year. This kid is quick out of the blocks.

absolutely delighted... the whole draft is a crapshoot, but you've got a better chance hitting on players in rds 1-4... 5-7 is a real crapshoot.

We didnt give up a lot for a player who, with the right guidance and coaching, could make the pro bowl down the line.

Always amazes me to see peep's talking about probowl for a player that havent Made the team or even taken an NFL snap

at worst he is on the practice squad this year.

Wright won't be on our practice squad as others have said.

What I wonder about is whether getting Wright is a statement to Vickerson that he needs to step it up or find himself PS material, though.

I think you are reading a little much into. You dont make statements to 7th round rookies prior to training camp.

We need depth a his position subtype. 6'4' 285+ pound guys will be the main horses on the Dolphins D-line. At pretty much any given time you can expect 2 of those type of players on the field. In the 4-3 they will line up at Undertackle and LDE, in the 3-4 they will line up at DE. In nickel and dime packages they can line up in the interior.

Having one backup apiece between the two main starters is just good sense. Two young developmental picks behind our two 29-31 year old starters.
