I know we picked him up in the 7th round but who is this guy? Looks like a guy who could play LB in the 3-4 or something of that nature.

CU BUFFS BABY!!!!! :)

He was the leader of the Buff's D along with Thaddeus Washington. He had a lot of sacks at CU....I think he can play either DE or one of the LB positions.

i think he could be the replacement for porter in 2-3 years----maybe....maybe not haha:goof:

Given the proper time to develop, he could take the Open End position that Jason Taylor plays. He has similar size, but not nearly as talented. He is probably the draft pick most likely to be cut.

Abraham Wright is not slow. Yes, he ran a 4.90 40-yard Dash at the combine. But he ran a 4.64 at his Pro Day.

He also improved upon his Vertical Jump, 20 Yrd Shuttle, and 3-Cone Drill at his Pro Day, which shows a willingness to work to get better. Another good-character guy with no off-the-field issues.

He had 11.5 sacks in 2006. 5 sacks in 2005. And 4.5 sacks in 2004.
For a total of 21 sacks for his college career.

Wright probably won't ever be a starter, but he will stick. He will rotate in like David Bowens and Jeff Zgonina used to. Wright has the potential to be a big-time playmaker on situational downs. Send him in when it's 3rd and long. The guy obviously knows how to get to the QB.

I see him on the practice squad this year with the chance to develop into a decent role player.

Have you looked at our roster recently? Here's our starting front 7:

Jason Taylor
Zach Thomas
Joey Porter
Channing Crowder
Vonnie Holliday
Keith Traylor
Fred Evans

That leaves 15 guys:

Matt Roth
Paul Soliai
Rodrique Wright
Derrick Pope
Donnie Spragan
Kevin Vickerson
Abraham Wright
Mkristo Bruce
Kelvin Smith
Edmund Miles
Steve Fifita
Chase Page
Jim Maxwell
Akbar Gbaja-Biamila
Robert McCune
Marquay Love

That means 7-8 guys will stick, and 7-8 guys will go home.

Let's assume Roth, Soliai, and Rod Wright stick. That leaves 4-5 roster spots.
Even if you give Pope and Spragan the nod, that still leaves 2-3 spots.

Which of these remaining do you think are most likely to win one of those 2-3 spots?

Abraham Wright
Mkristo Bruce
Kelvin Smith
Edmund Miles
Steve Fifita
Chase Page
Jim Maxwell
Akbar Gbaja-Biamila
Robert McCune
Marquay Love

We'll probably play more 3-4 bc we lack a 2nd starting DT so take out Evans and put in Roth for one sick D.. And for our 4-3, what about Rod Wright starting over Evans?

I'd say Wright, Fifita, and Page. If wright CAN make the team, he has some awesome pass rushers to learn behind. With Taylor and Porter here, he could be a good blitzing linebacker in a few yrs.
