Abramson: Dolphins to seek "upgrade" to Miller, notes on Tannehill, Jordan, D. Thomas

Miller is not a RB that is going to run thru contact.

Miller stillhas some good qualities and some good offensive line coaching and may even a better RB coach might help. Heck of a conincidence that we have 3 running backs that cannot run thru contact. Gillispee from Fla was touted as a decent propect in last years Hoops Soops propects for the draft and now he is not even a decent rookie according to Hoops. Common denominator is the coach IMO. Like Mando mentioned about our linebackers the scrubs in Dansby and Burnett we through off the team last year are playing lights out for their new teams and Elerbee and Wheeler both who were much higher rated stats wise last year with their old teams are bacially rated as some of the worst line backer in the leaque palying for the phins.

FWIW, Miller caused 20 missed tackles on 177 rushes. DT had 21 MT's on 109 rushes.

To compare, Blount had 26 on 153 runs, MJD had 26 on 234, gore had 23 on 276. At the top, McCoy had 57 MT's on 314 carries.

That said, I remember complaining about this with Miller in the first half but, he did get better in the second half. I thought DT ran hard most of the year. I still want to bring in a vet, as I REALLY wanted Bradshaw, with others, last year. His blocking alone would have made a difference.

Miller is just another player this staff could not get to improve.

It's the staff's fault that Miller had two breakaway touchdown runs and inexplicably cut back into a defender instead of running for the pylon? Really?

He even fumbled on one of those when literally all he had to do was run to the pylon. He cut directly back into like three guys. You going to blame Joe for that?

He was overrated by many dolphin fans because he went to the u, hell apparently we are even meant to interview gm candidates because they went to the U

Could you please stop talking crap.
Dolfans are made up of all different kinds of college football fans. As a matter of fact where I sit the majority are Gators and Noles fans. And how many Canes games have you seen in the UK? You are talking about two subjects you obviously lacking facts.

I am a U of M fan and a Dolphins fans and I can't remember when I wanted a Canes player on the Dolphins roster the last time - period. So there is your third strike.

The OL doesn't even have to give him a garage door wide opening like most running backs need. But you of all people are such a Tannehill apologist, make every excuse in the book for him but you are ready to toss away a RB you really have only seen in spot duties.

I have no idea if Miller will ever be an elite running back. But nobody else doesn't really know either. Yet, we are giving Tannehill all the benefit of the doubt because of a crappy OL and raving about other teams OLs yet people expect Miller to block for himself while not even getting the carries.

RB is not our most flawed position on offense.

I blame Joe and the staff for not sticking with the run. I don't think I mentioned Miller not having an awareness issue on two runs. The committee set up was garbage too.

No, it is just this time of the year when the realists are the posters on this board. By the time we get to pre-season, the homers will be back telling us how great Miller will be with a fixed OL and how "we don't know football." Book it...

So Tannehill will be great with a fixed OL but nobody else?

Then he's really not a RB then is he.

Utilize his talents and hide his weaknesses. Get him in space. Jet sweep him. Work him on wheel routes and screens. Utilize him on draws.

I see a player with eleite speed that needs to be utilized better.

do tell what is...

Offensive line is by far the most flawed position. Outside of Pouncey, there are misfits everywhere. They were asked to play a way their skillset did not allow.

phintim i missed on gillislee...point blank...overvalued him...got the doesnt wow you with anything part right but missed on may be undervalued...i dont mind admitting it when it happens...my grade on him was poor...

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think Ryan Tannehill and Lamar Miller would both be significantly more productive behind a credible offensive line. I don't think Miller is great, but he could certainly be more productive than he was this year, and that's mostly because our coaches didn't want to run the football and our offensive line was absolutely dreadful at run blocking. I'm not a fan of ground and pound, but you do need to have balance running the football. We were completely off-kilter and simply threw the ball too many times, particularly in the games when the run was actually working somewhat.

More than anything, the reason I want to replace Miller is that he doesn't have particularly good hands out of the backfield and he is not good at blitz pickups. I think Miller's good as a change of pace / second back.

of course miller would be more productive...but he'd still go down too easy...it's just not what i envisioned...the canes fans here who called him what he was when we drafted him were right...all the way

I forgot to add in Bush. This year, 42 missed tackles on 223 runs. Last year in Miami, he had 29 on 227 runs. Hmmm.
