It makes sense for so many reasons. Fitzpatrick has the experience you want against the four September opponents, all playoff teams a season ago. He has had a solid summer, established himself as a compelling leader and has developed an excellent feel for this offense. Plain and simple, he gives this team the best chance to win.
Couple all of that with the fact that Josh Rosen is still a work in progress, refining his game, learning this offense, and you can understand how this decision came about. I fully expect to see Rosen this season. He showed us real promise several times this summer, most notably on a 99-yard drive against Jacksonville. Now he needs to show more consistency on the practice field and be ready to step in if necessary.

The O line may not improve at all this season. One key injury and the O line could get worse. Why delay the inevitable and get a larger sample size of Rosen this year.

Those reasons make no sense. Who cares if we go 1-3 in our first four games instead of 0-4? We aren't contending for the Super Bowl this season! This is simply about a promise that was made to Fitzpatrick when he signed to start. They've been gearing us up for it all of the preseason. They will let him start and we will be "meh" and continue our time of mediocrity. So sucks to see my team doing stupidness.

the only guy along the OL i would consider as a "key injury" is Tunsil and the OL would undoubtedly be worse if he was injured.

Flores is protecting Rosen. Plus Rosen is not quite 100% on all the ins and outs of the offense. In that regard Fitz is still ahead but very soon Rosen will pull even. As a pure passer I put Rosen way ahead of Fitz so the time will come where he's in there under center. We need to see how this o-line performs when real bullets are being fired. There will be some growing pains as the oline settles in but with time they should gel together and perform better. Once the unit is playing decently put Rosen in and watch him kick butt with cowboy boots!!! That's what I'm hoping for. I actually like Rosen as our QOF. (QB of the future). But, and this is a big butt (forgive the pun) I'd still draft Tua or whoever is the best QB on the board when we pick. Let the Rookie and Rosen battle it out for the starting job. We MUST finally settle the QB problem! Between Rosen and a new stud rookie QB, one of them should finally be the guy we've been waiting for. We've got to keep hedging our bets until we hit on our guy.

all these conspiracy theories lol. how about rosen just isn't as good as you think he is?

Though I have said, I don't care if they start Fitz or not, is Cohen seeing something in Bazaro world I'm not?

Of the reasons he gave of Fitz deserving to start over Rosen, the only one that I agree with is, Fitzpatrick does have far more experience then Rosen, but that is it. Rosen has been better this summer in real games ( I can't talk about practice, but to me real games, against real opponents is where you can really judge), he also has shown able to move the offense better, and will them to succeed better then Fitz, which tells me he may actually be the QB that gives Miami the better chance to succeed.

If they want to keep Rosen out because they want to give the O-Line a bit more time together, and believe the Ol' vet Fitz might survive better against the pass-rush for one to a few more games, then fine, but don't say Fitz has looked better then Rosen, because that is false, and everyone knows it.

I understand the reasoning behind starting Fitzpatrick but AC is the ultimate homer.

We could lose all 16 games and he’d find a way to spin it as a positive.

The ongoing body of evidence speaks more to Rosen being kept out while the OL gels and he hands a bit more experience. Rosen has looked cleaner from a pure on field play aspect.

Fitz starting is big part of the tank, Rosen clearly the superior QB in pre season with vastly higher upside. Fitz will start 1st month , Dolphins will be 0-4 and in prime position for the top pick in draft.

At best Rosen would only win 4 games out of remaining 12.

Overall it's a win-win for the Dolphins, either Rosen earns a shot to be the starting QB heading into 2020 campaign, or shows just enough upside on this awful team that another GM is willing to trade a decent pick or two for Rosen come the draft i.e the Colts, Titans.
