According To Coach Wannstedt: Special Teams

this one is a less plain vanilla  i.e.

Jeff Ogden (32 PR, 11.8 avg., in ’01) averaged nearly 12 yards a return on punts last year, and placed among the league leaders. He had several key returns last year to give our offense good field position. Dedric Ward (9 PR, 9.8 avg.) also has the ability to be a successful punt returner, as he has shown during his career.

Chris Chambers’ (36 KOR, 22.5 avg. in ’01) athleticism gives him the potential to be a dangerous kick returner in this league. Brock Marion (17 KOR, 21.8 avg.) has done a good job returning kicks for us the last several seasons. Others who will get a look at returning punts, kickoffs or both this year include Albert Johnson, Travis Minor and Sam Simmons, our fifth-round draft choice who had an extremely productive college career returning both punts and kickoffs.

I like Ward and Minor a returners a lot :D

Madison and Surtain were saying that AJ was hard to cover last year. Then he sustained an injury.

Johnson and Robert Baker are kind of in the same boat. They are both hard luck players who can't seem to stay healthy. What a shame for these guys. They always just seem to wind up getting caught up in a numbers crunch.

Wyhatever we do, we HAVE To keep Brock and Chambers off the field during kickoffs. Let Simmons or Johnson handle those duties. If Ogden loses the PR spot...cut him. Norv never uses 4 wide anyways.
