With only 42 players signed and only $17 millionish under the cap as opposed to the huge numbers a lot of other teams have i can only see us luring 1 big name out of the market this year. Even with restructures and cuts I dont see us getting to high. So who is it we need most if we can only have one big name and why? :dolphins: (maybe we get two who knows, that is not the point of this thread, just asking if we only get one who is it and why)

Asante Samuel. We need turnovers. When we get em we win, when we dont....you all have seen what happens when we dont get em.

re-structure carters contract, or cut him, because he will be making almost 7 mill....MATT ROTH CAN DO THE JOB!!!!!!

There is no left tackle on the market who is worth a big contract.

If we were to go all out for one guy, I'd want it to be either Adalius Thomas or Asante Samuel.

Great Choices!!!

Before Cameron signed on; those are the two I had in mind as well. But if you pay attention to Cam's philosophy; he believes in building an offensive line from the inside-out. I'm sure everyone agrees our o-line needs some attention this offseason.

So I would look at Kris Diehman (25 yrs old) and Eric Steinbach (27 yrs old) as possible signings too. If Cam wanted to go in this direction, we could probably sign both of these guys, and still sign one big FA signing too.

Samuels or Briggs.

I would prefer Samuels because finding a CB in the draft with his ball hawk abilities will be hard. He has this ability to read the QB's eyes that is amazing. 10 Int's in the regular season and 2 in the postseason (both for TD). He should be priority this offseason (FA wise). Will Allen and Asante Samuels at CB, I think we'd be alright. [Miami had only 8 INTs this season. 2 from Jason Taylor and 1 from Zach Thomas, meaning our secondary got only 5 INTs. Turnovers +/- wins you games in this league and Samuels will definitely help out]

Briggs is a solid LB with freakish speed. But LB with freakish speed are found in the draft in later rounds (i.e. Crowder). I think Miami can pass on spending money on him, yet I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if we could land him.

Well we need to either lure in a few big name veteran O-linemen with the extra cap or bring in a quality defense men and a wide-out.

I get the feeling we wont sign any big name FA, instead we will probably use the money to absorb the cap hits from players being cut/traded in order to rebuild the offense.

I believe that a lot of cap room will be freed up when we cut Joey. Isnt he scheduled to make $10 mill this year, or something crazy like that?

I like your thinking, Samuels then also get Diehlman and maybe Steinbach. Good plan.
