Recent data and industry consensus highlight several top mock draft prognosticators:

  • Brendan Donahue has been ranked as the #2 most accurate mock drafter over the past five NFL seasons according to The Huddle Report, a widely respected source for mock draft accuracy.

- Brendan Donahue’s 2025 NFL Mock Draft projects the Miami Dolphins to select Jahdae Barron, cornerback from Texas, in the first round.

  • Charlie Campbell has had the most accurate mock draft in 3 of the past 7 years, according to NFL Mock Draft Database.

- Charlie Campbell's latest 2025 NFL mock draft has the Miami Dolphins selecting Malaki Starks, safety from Georgia, in the first round.

  • Jason La Canfora is also noted for his high accuracy in mock drafts, consistently ranking near the top in multi-year accuracy spreadsheets.

- No data as yet for Jason La Canfora...stay tuned.

Am I the only person tired of drafting all these DB’s. Give me some trench players or offensive weapons with our early picks. I know I’ll be complaining when our CB’s are getting roasted, but damn these guys play a few years with us then bail. Give me some big D Linemen that can put pressure on the pocket so our CB’s don’t have to cover forever.

The players highlighted by the above prognosticators...

Jahdae Barron:

Jahdae Barron: Player Overview
Position: Defensive Back (Cornerback/Nickel/Safety)
College: Texas Longhorns
Height/Weight: 5'11", 200 lbs

Career Highlights:

Winner of the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award (nation’s top defensive back).

Defensive MVP of the 2025 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Three-year starter, 56 games played, 38 starts.

2024 stats: 67 tackles, 5 interceptions, 11 pass breakups.

Logged 35 career "ballhawks" (sacks, INTs, passes defensed, forced fumbles).

Strengths:

Exceptionally versatile: played boundary corner, slot, safety, and in the box.

High football IQ and elite processing speed; diagnoses plays and routes quickly.

Physical and aggressive tackler; strong in run support despite average size.

Excellent ball skills and playmaking ability—consistently disrupts passes and creates turnovers.

Special teams contributor.

Weaknesses:

Lacks elite long speed; can be vulnerable to vertical threats and double moves.

Undersized for an outside corner; can struggle against bigger receivers and in disengaging from blocks.

Occasional hip tightness and hesitancy when breaking on the ball.

Can get grabby in man coverage and sometimes bites on misdirection.

Barron is widely regarded as one of the most versatile and intelligent defensive backs in the 2025 NFL Draft, with a proven track record of production, adaptability, and playmaking at the highest collegiate level.

Malaki Starks:

Malaki Starks: Player Overview
Position: Safety
College: Georgia Bulldogs
Height/Weight: 6'1", 197 lbs
Hometown: Jefferson, Georgia
NFL Draft: Declared for 2025 NFL Draft.

Career Highlights & Accolades
Five-star recruit, No. 12 overall in 2022 class.

Started as a true freshman, helping Georgia win the 2022 national championship.

Consensus All-American in 2023; two-time first-team All-American.

Jim Thorpe Award finalist.

2022 Freshman All-American: 68 tackles, 2 INTs, 7 pass breakups.

2024 season: 77 tackles, 4 tackles for loss.

Playing Style & Strengths:

Versatile safety, can play deep, in the box, or in the slot.

Elite athleticism: 10.55s 100m dash in high school, state long jump champion.

Excellent football IQ, quick to diagnose plays, and a strong tackler.

High-level ball skills and range; reliable in run support and underneath coverage.

Known for his positional flexibility and ability to impact all three levels of the defense.

Weaknesses & Concerns:

Coverage technique still developing—can struggle against shifty slot receivers and in deep zone transitions.

Not a punishing hitter; more effective closer to the line than as a pure deep safety.

Some concerns about size and durability at the next level.

Malaki Starks is regarded as one of the top safety prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, offering rare athleticism, versatility, and production at a premier SEC program. He projects as a first-round talent with immediate starter potential, especially in schemes that can maximize his run defense and allow him to develop further in coverage.

Agree. We need to be drafting for the future. Let's start building this team right - bolster the trenches.

For what it's worth, the Dolphins picked the players I wanted in Rounds 1 AND 2 last year. I don't think I actually predicted it, though, because that never happens.

Except, of course, for last year.

How can anybody put us on a safety after the presser this week? Grier does stupid stuff but he doesn't outright lie when talking to the media. Maybe he should, lol. Anyways, he didn't sound like he considered safety to be a huge priority. CB could definitely be in play at 13. I would rank it CB, DL, OL as the best chance at going 13.

Dolphins better not draft a safety in 1st round because we let our last 2 leave in FA. Brandon Jones got 3 for $20M last offseason and Jevon Holland got 3 for $45M this offseason.

Dolphins sure as **** aren’t willing to pay their own developed safeties so don’t ****ing draft any high anymore.

100%

If you don't think you'll be willing to pay a second contract... then DON'T draft that player early.

Starks makes no sense. Most mocks now have him being selected towards the end of the first round.

Also Safety is not a premium position.

I have a feeling that Starks will be no better than Holland was in his first 2 seasons.

Sound exactly like guys we'd target.

I totally agree and would much rather have Mukuba in round 3 or Bowman Winston Jr. or Ransom in round 4.

My only issue with Baron is that wont he be around 30 years old after his 5th year option? So youre gonna use a 1st on someone your gonna get 6 years out of before a possible decline because of age. Like hed really need to come right out of the gate and be a solid starter to justify that high of investment imo.

We have so many dang holes im hoping we just trade down and get another 2nd or 3rd so we can double dip at multiple positions.

Starks is way better than holland as a prospect
