What r the reasons behind having a 53? man game day roster and having to declare inactives? Is it strictly financial for the owner/league/players contracts or service, etc?Seems like this or something similar has been around for awhile. In high school r there rules on how many players, in Kansas more enrollment (probably more players ). Why the cut off at 53 or whatever, why can't it be 60-70?

If they were so worried about player safety, they would expand the rosters. EVERYONE should be eligible every week.

As long as DeVante Parker is on this roster, its a 52 man roster anyway.

Anyway, horrible roster management leads to what we have today.....4 wide receivers on the active roster and any injury seriously hinders on WR personnel.

I think it was Jimmy Johnson who used to rail against this. All the guys should be available. I don’t get it.

I don’t think that we even have 53 players left counting the practice squad

Most likely for competitive balance.

Without limits at some point, you’d have the wealthiest owners buying up all the talent and just sitting on them to prevent the competition from playing them.

I understand a set limit every team has to follow, just why at 53 and not 60 or 65? Don't some colleges suit up around 80?

I have always hated this rule. I think every team should have 60 man rosters and everyone should be active on gamedays.
