Adam Beasley: Grumblings about defensive game plan

Whether you believe Tannehill sucks or not is not the point of this thread. He has not been good, but neither has the defense at times or the special teams. It's a team wide failure right now. Sure if Tannehill was actually a decent QB maybe they'd be 2-1. But he doesn't play special teams or linebacker and is not the head coach or one of the coordinators. This is a team wide disaster right now.
 
I'm giving Coyle a pass, with getting stuck with these crappy LBs. Trusnik at MLB is a disaster.
 
I have been saying this since last week. Something is wrong behind the scenes. I am thinking a power struggle because Philbin is too meek and weak to take command.
The players are caught in the middle.
Coyle and Lazor may be conspiring to rid the team of Philbin. For good reason. He is not helping.
Ryan Tannehill is in the same boat with Philbin.


Going forward, I like Lazor's brand of offense. He is a good coach and a good hire. He needs to work with Hickey to get the players. He should have at least 3 years.
Hickey did quite well in the draft. He should remain and choose the next head coach. (Lazor and Coyle and at his knees already)
Coyle. I do not like his scheme or type of defense. He plays the percentages. I like a dominating defense that dictates. He should be sent packing.
How does Marino fit into all of this? Is he the spoon stirring the pot?
 
I am too. I can't understand why the **** we give so much cushion for receivers. All the ****ing time

No doubt... But it's one those 'no upside' games- win, and no one gives you credit because you're supposed to win. Lose and it's a disaster because the Raiders may be the worst team in the league.
 
I am tired of hearing excuses from this team. Yes the play calling wasn't great on either side, but the players also did a lousy job. They were embarrassed for the 2nd straight game , this time against an average beat up KC team.

Our defensive scheme today was awful. We kept trying to have Cam Wake and Olivier Vernon cover Kelce and their RBs out of the backfield. WTF was that?

That's on Coyle.

It is a terrible game plan, but the other option is to have Trusnik cover them.

I rather have Earl Mitchell cover someone than Trusnik.

No. He has played well against the run. Coyle putting him on WR and RB's in pass coverage is the problem.

He has been BEYOND awful against the run.

Can't diagnose, can't fill the gaps, can't shed blockers, can't even tackle.

He's good at making assists, like when somebody else tackles the ballcarrier first. That's about all he's good at really.
