He is a protege. Never played or been a head coach. I still think the hire was bad but the more research i have done on this kid the more im willing to give him a chance. This is all he knows. He left high school & worked under nick saban who worked for bellichik who worked for parcells. This could be a disaster or it could be a franchise changing hire. I think its gonna be a disaster but who knows. Read this article it might chanche your mind. http

Adam Gase was the hottest coaching candidate this offseason and selected the Miami Dolphins over other teams (with interest in him from Eagles, Giants, and Browns right off the bat).

Pessimistic Dolphin media said all year that the Miami Dolphins would never be able to land a top candidate and would have to settle for scraps because no top candidate would to risk their career working with Tannenbaum or even Steve Ross. That narrative was obliterated this weekend when Gase chose Miami.

Since Week 17, the Dolphins have:

- Promoted a GM whos widely respected and on the same page as Tannenbaum.
- Landed the hottest, youngest coaching candidate sought after by almost every team with a vacancy and had his pick of where he wanted to go.
- Gase, who is unproven at HC but very respected at OC, will be calling plays and working very closely with Tannehill (who we now learn was being crapped on for 2 seasons by Joe Philbin). He is not a former head coach or athlete, but there is no question that Adam Gase can run an offense and call plays and strategize better than any OC we've had in ages.
- Gase has the ability to establish a coaching staff as good as any of our candidates, better than my top candidate Shanahan.
- Fins rumored to be high on free agent guards, bringing back Lamar Miller and building the defense through the draft (corner, LB).

I have been really down on the Dolphins moves lately, but what they have done so far this offseason should have everyone excited.

It's pretty incredible we're being coached by someone who reveres and idolizes Saban. A big **** you to the fanbase and team who were insulted by Saban.

Saban was the first coach he worked with and a big influence, but in terms of his playcalling, Gase's lineage is through Mike Martz with offensive concepts going back to Don Coryell and Sid Gillman.

He also worked with Mariucci and in the largest capacity with John Fox. When Mike McCoy left for San Diego, it took John Fox 1 day to promote Adam Gase

You're looking a little too much into the Saban thing.

Little bit of stretch to say Parcells tree.

Seriously, i don't get it either. I think this off seasons couldn't have gone any better so far. We have done everything right and people still mad...

Why would he learn playcalling from Saban? He's an influence in his idealogy, what kind of coach and man he tries to be, you know all the things which are reprehensible about Saban.

Some good points in this post.

if scott norwood makes that field goal and the bills beat the giants in the superbowl, does anyone still care what bill parcells or his proteges have to say?

The Ross era of the Dolphins has really put a beating on the fans, myself included. And tbh, it doesn't help that the Dolphins have some of the worst media coverage of any sports team I have ever seen. Guys like the Big O and Omar Kelly put a lot of negative crap into the casual fans mind, and even new moves are destroyed as disasters. However, look at other teams media coverage (Bears, Eagles, Broncos) and its pretty much consensus that the Dolphins won big with this hire.

Everything the Fins have done so far this offseason clearly indicates this will be a different team than what we are used to. I am not saying its going to be a great team, but the argument that this is "same ol' Dolphins" and comparisons of Philbin and Gase are mind boggling.
