I was watching video and a good point was brought up. With the amount of injuries piling up, one might look to the fact that there are more injuries due to less padded practices. Talks about it at the 3:50 mark. Most injuires are happening because they are not used to getting hit as much on bodies which in a way makes them........ weak?

Would love to see if there is an increase in injuries since the new CBA. I tend to agree that less padded practices and overall less practice time has played a huge part. Younger players especially don't always come into the league knowing best ways of stretching how to plan for a whole season or physicality of the league. Then you have more fatigue in games that's normally worked out in practices. I only played college but I always thought games were a breeze compared to 4 or 6 hour practices.

Yeah, I've been harping on that all offseason. Basic stuff like tackling, stamina, and most importantly, conditioning your body to take a hit without falling apart. These things just don't get developed in pre-season because of the lack of padded practices. Now they are in "shape" but not really "football shape" and they get hit by tremendous hammers to their bodies, and they haven't built up any conditioning to being hit. It's doing the players a disservice IMHO. And it's definitely harder for a coach to see what he has.

More injuries are happening because athletes are bigger stronger faster and beating the **** out of each other. They're on God know's how many types of drugs to get to where they are now and to make them more dynamic and more stuff given to keep them playing. As a result, their bodies are breaking down at a faster pace.

These guys are not natural sized. Not natural speed. And sure as hell not a natural combination... every single player in the NFL is a "freak of nature" and they're being trained at even younger ages and prep'd from childhood to dominate. It's a whole different world now.

More practices lead to less injuries? Maybe... but maybe 250lb pure muscle dudes slamming into each other at top speed isn't going to soften up just because they're doing it more often. Maybe their bodies are going to break down faster, actually.

What we're seeing is more teams going deeper into their roster, depth is a priority more than ever. Filling in your 53 with good players top to bottom has never been more important.
