I respect the Flynn haters out there, but frankly I want Flynn. Why?
It's been said that Philbin wants his guy. Well, who doesn't? Every coach wants his own people. People are just stating the obvious and qualifying it as a reason for failure.
The ONLY way we can see if Philbin will work is to give Philbin what he needs. If you're going to do something, do it all the way. When it fails, you can walk away with the peace of mind you gave it your best shot. When it succeeds, you'll vindicate your original decision to select him as coach.
The fan base needs to be galvanized. We all need to stand behind Philbin. Or it simply wont work.
The current Dolphins and Miami remind me of the days before Schnellenberger arrived at The University. Nobody had belief it could happen and no one supported the team. His grass roots style recalimed the city and made the Hurricanes an icon of the city.
Look at our fan boards, look at the stadium on game day. No one wants a part of this team. But everyone's got an opinion on the solution. Yet there is only one guy tasked with fixing it.
Get behind Philbin. Get behind the team.
Philbin has no HC legacy. Flynn has no QB legacy. They are a HC and QB with no team to call their own. They are EXACTLY what we need: Something to call our own.
How many times have fans on this board complained about taking other team's trash?
Flynn isn't trash. He's been learning behind Aaron Rogers. Philbin's been learning too. They are not trash. They are simply ready for their chance. Everyone has to learn somewhere. But where you perform is where your legacy is cemented.
No one wanted to coach the Hurricanes. Schnellenberger took a job no one wanted and turned into a champion.
No one wants the Dolphins. Philbin and Flynn do. What is the problem? Stop crying and start supporting.
