Adam Schefter: Brady Quinn Holdout Strong Possibility

Adam Schefter just said on NFL Total Access that Brady Quinn and The Browns have not agreed on a contract and likely won't for quite a while. Quinn thinks he should have gone top 10, wants to be "compensated" for that, Browns say they took him at 22, yada yada yada.

My Question(s) is this:

A). Do you think the ability to sign Beck vs. the ability to sign Quinn played a major role in Cam's draft decisions?

B). Does the fact that Beck (and soon to be Ginn for that matter) has already signed a contract and will be present at training camp in its entirety make Cam's draft look a lot smarter?

C). How long after Ginn signs will Quinn sign?

I think one of the main reasons why we picked ginn was because hes a good guy you know what I mean? I mean not only are we getting quality impact players, but we are getting guys who are good people and just want to play football and have fun, I really think Cam and Randy picked these players because of that reason. And if you look at it we released all the trouble makers and character issue players, marcus vick,manny wright,fred evans,and would have released ricky if he didnt fail again. I like Cam and Randy are doing...filling the team....with actual team players.

Well a major reason for Cam not drafting Quinn is because he just wasn't worth the money in his eyes. So he really wouldn't have been happy with Quinn holding out for even more money...

i must admit that i declared draft day National Quinn Day but this makes the pick look a little better...

i do not think signability played any part in the draftin strategy.

it is pretty amazin that the 9 pick is the first top ten signed...good stuff...i thought they would want to see what calvin got first but ginn signin is great

I don't think it had anything to do with signability. I think part of it probably had to do with the fact that Cameron and Mueller felt that Beck was a similar player who could even end up being better for a lot less money, and also probably that Cam may have been hesitant to take Quinn that high and basically have his fate as coach rest on how Quinn pans out.

If Beck fails, it is "only" a waste of a 2nd round pick, a low one at that. Considering that 2nd round picks were traded away for Feeley and then Culpepper, the risk isn't anywhere near as high.

It works differently with quarterbacks. All teams need only one starting QB on their roster which commands a hefty salary, and many teams have already invested in that position so therefor they wont go and grab another in the first round. This means that quarterbacks fall victim to team needs, and as they fall further in the draft the money they get takes a tremendous hit. If Quinn starts for the Browns the next 4-5 years and puts up average to decent numbers he deserves to be paid in line with other starters at that position. His is a special case, I dont think he should be getting crazy money, but he should probably get more then a 22nd overall pick in the draft.
