Anyone catch the interview with Adam Schefter yesterday on the NFL Network. it showed a very interesting stat. Of Parcells first round draft choices, the last six have been defensive players. His last Offensive pick? Chad Pennington, and he wanted Brackens from texas that year. All of this leasds me to believe we're going defensive with the first pick. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I caught that also. Schefter seems to think Chris Long is the way we are leaning.

He also said that it is highly unlikely that we will find a trade partner for the #1 pick. In fact, he doesn't think there will be really any movement with picks in the Top 10.

I would be happy with either of the Longs. Both would solidify their position for us for many years to come. Personally, I would rather draft Jake, but if we take Chris, I have no problems at all. If I hear any other name other than Long with that #1 pick, I will be very pissed.

you also have to look at what he had to work with on those 6 defensive choices..they were probly needs or bpa. right now our biggest need going in is Tackle and with the fa/trade moves he has made so far it is hard to say this years first rounder would be a defensive guy and theres not many worth the overall #1 this year but stranger things have happened.

Parcells' history as a GM is meaningless. According to Parcells, he was brought in to set up the football organizational structure. Ireland is the GM and he makes all personnel decisions....HAHHHAHAHAAHAAHAHAAHAHA

I almost typed that without laughing. Sorry!

Parcells will NEVER draft an OL in the 1st round. Check his record on that. Let alone the 1st overall pick. I would bet my fin dollars (oh we don't have them anymore) that we draft Chris Long 1st overall.

Amazing how good their offense has been in DAL even with that stat. Leads me to believe Parcells is def a man who believes the system makes the player, not the other way around...

I agree with the system make the player scheme Hardcore. At least our FA signings would indicate that.

I have no qualms drafting a beast like DE C. Long / or a monster like OT J. Long. I think they are both safe choices at #1 this year, and will both be productive players in the NFL regardless of which we on choose...

With that stated however, if Parcells really wants to make a splash / long lasting impression on this franchise, he'll select QB M. Ryan. Parcells knows how vital the QB position is, and without a confident / consistent signal caller, you can basically forget about the offense moving forward any time soon....

Yes, I'm sold on Matt Ryan eventually becoming a very productive QB in the NFL. He has all the tools necessary, all the smarts / determination / and work ethic that leads me to believe he's going to be something special...

Matt Ryan doesn't have anything more (perhaps even a little less) than John Beck has (ie. smarts/determination/work ethic). Only difference, we saw John Beck thrown to the wolves as a rookie in the NFL whereas Matt Ryan has not been afforded that experience yet.
