If he's ready to be thrown into the fire early i dont see why not, especially if he goes through the training camp/preseason showing himself to be the best qb we got
It keeps getting said over and over that he knows the system. I am glad for that, obviously, but the true defining moment is when he gets comfortable with the NFL speed. He can know the system all day long but if his reads are too slow or his passes too late they will eat him alive. I for one would love to see him start and thrive, but i think the speed he is used to versus what he saw at A&M will be like night and day.
At the end of the day i trust Philbin and Sherman.
Agreed. In fact in another article I read, he said that he already knows 85% of the playbook right now. If he's good to go w/the plays and looks better than the vets, no reason not to start him.
If he is the best QB, Tannehill will start right away. If he isn't ready right away then he isn't ready.
I also would like to think Philbin isn't stupid. If it's obvious come September that Tannehill gives us the best chance to win, he'll be starting week 1. If Moore and/or Garrard outperform him in training camp and preseason, then they will be the starter.
If Tannehill is the best that we have to offer, and can adjust to the speed of the NFL game, then give him a shot. I just don't want to see happen to him as happened to Henne.

I mean honestly think about it. Henne was surrounded by Henning, Lee and Sparano. White was brought in..... Chad had no chance.
Tannehill has a much better chance to develop. Much better support system. I hope.
Sitting for a year doesn't guarantee that he will have a better chance to succeed (ex. Henne) if he obviously is on par with our other QB's, You gotta start him
