Adrian Mcpherson

N

NJFinFury2004

I hope the rumor that Nick is keeping an eye on him is true. I really wanted us to draft him last year and feel he has unlimited potential. Now if we are going to have a project on the team, this is one I would love to have.

At 22 years old not 28 (Feeley) he has time to develope and has twice the skills that AJ has. He reminds me of a younger Randal Cunningham. I would like to see this kid picked up by us and start hitting the books. Mcpherson and Brown are the kinds of people on the offense you build around. I know Mcpherson isn't considered in Browns class, It just happens to be my opinion he could be.

I hope this happens. Anyone else feel the same way?

Absolutely. We are really weak at the Qb position and it can't hurt to bring in young prospects. I'd rather get him off waivers, but I just don't understand why the Saints would let him go. They can demote Klingsbury to the practice squad (no one is likely to pick this guy up) and keep McPherson at #3. I heard that Haslett is really unimpressed though, and he is also an idiot so anything can happen.
Personally I feel that McPherson is the best talent in this year's QB class and I was very critical of Saban not taking him in round 4. Now that Daniels has worked out and McPherson might be available on waivers, Saban looks like a genius.

I know a LOT of you are high on McPherson. However, most of you are the same ones that are also high on Berlin and Sage. My question is if you really want to get McPherson, who do you cut? You usually can only keep 3 QB's and 2 of which typically play during the season (rare for a QB to play every snap). So you typically want two talented/experienced QB's. So to take Adrian you would have to cut two of our current QBs. Who?

If the Saints cut him after 1 preseason, when they spent a 5th round pick on him, he must be visibly bad in such a way that there is no hope that he'll ever be a QB in this league. You don't cut draft picks in their first season unless it's OBVIOUS they can't do the job they were drafted to do. If the Saints cut him, it's for a reason folks. It would be stupid of us to try and sign him to anything but the practice squad.

It's highly unlikely that N.O. will simply cut Adrian. This is just a one line rumor in the paper yesterday. So there is really no telling but McPherson would have to have totally blown off studying, or commited some type of terrible team violation like pissing on the coaches desk (ala, Charles Haley when he wanted to be released by the 49ers and sign with the Cowboys!). Those are things that nobody's heard about.

I would think that even if KliffyPoo is beating out Adrian so far that it had to be expected to a certain extent since the guy's so young, played very very little college ball and played arena league for what 1 or 2 seasons.

I personally think that if Saban really wants Adrian, he'll have to trade for him. I'm fine with that as long as it's NOT a draft pick next season as we've already spent a 5th on Wright. If it's a combo of players then I'm all for it. maybe a McKinney and Thompson...I'd do that one but anyway....I don't feel that N.O. is going to just cut a 4th round pick with that much natural ability right after you sign him to a 3yr deal (or was it 4?) and not keep him as the 3rd stringer for at least one season....Kliff can be siged to the practice squad and heck, even if someone else claimed Kingsburry, he's the type of guy that can be replaced with equal talent AFTER ther draft every single year...they are called college free agents.

Berlin most likely will not make the cut.

I say we let go of Sage. The guy has held down 3rd string forever and never really has entered the mix to be the starter.

Maybe there is more to it than we are being told. Maybe he had a falling out with Hazlet and maybe this guy isnt happy he is in New Orleans. Look, this kid has a boat load of talent and it would be nice to get him here and develope him.

Seriously, maybe something happen that we are not aware of.

I would love the reason why McPherson may be cut. The Saints must have some reason to want to cut him so fast.Geez we are not even done with preseason and he hasn't taken many snaps to judge much. Yes,I saw him line under the guard but this kid has special qualities. I say take a chance because right now our best QB is Brock and although I like him,he probably isn't our future.

I hope this keeps moving along and something happens before the reg season starts. This kid could be something special in this league and a franchise qb we have looked for since 2000, 5 years now. Kid is 22 years old, what a nice thing if he could give us 10 years.

I believe that if he is cut there is a strong possiblity we will pick him up since Saban showed some interest in the draft and he has tremendous athletic ability.

I do think that this may be some type of smokescreen. Saban is great at diversion and usually doesn't let anything leak out. And why leak a rumor like this which could encourage the Saints to hold on to him even on the practice squad, just to get some compensation? I'm not sure why he would do this, I just think it's a possiblity.

Anyone else agree?

I read the scouting reports on McPherson, and besides his run ins with the law, that got him kicked out of college, they said he relies more on athletic ability than knowledge for the game, and tries to do it all on instincts alone. Maybe NO sees that he doesn't have the head for the game:rolleyes:

I believe players need to clear waivers to go on the practice squad, and any team can pick up guys during that process. If McPherson goes that route we can get him. Am I wrong?
I don't think we carry 4 QBs, so I am happy with cutting Sage (his last year anyway) and putting Berlin on the practice squad for a year. Frankly, you can cut Feeley too for that matter.
