Absolutely ridiculous that he said this. NFL players are getting paid to play a game, have endorsements, and have more money than many of us will ever even see. I like Adrian Peterson, but this was one of the worst things he could say. Makes him seem naive, uninformed, and self entitled. I don't believe he is any of those, but by comparing today's NFL to slavery has got to be one of the dumbest quotes I've heard in quite some time.

Unbelievable. :bobdole:

Yeah.....not to stir up the racial pot but if a white player would of said this, Al Sharpton would of had a field day.

Yeah....modern day slavery of course! Make millions a year for running with a football.....not like your doing something productive for the world like researching medical advances or curing cancer.

Crack that whip boy! MMMMHhhhhhhmmmmmm........

I especially liked where he said if it weren't for the players, owners wouldn't be making all that money. What he fails to realize is that if it weren't for the fans, the owners don't make any money, which in turn, neither does he. They're all being greedy as hell, owners and players. When it comes down to it, the players should not be a union. It would keep all costs down. If you don't want to play for a smaller price tag, I guarantee somebody will step in and do it.

The only problem with no union is that the NFL, for all intents and purposes, is a monopoly in the professional football industry. You could talk arena, but in all honesty, the NFL probably controls more of the market than Microsoft did in the OS market.

You're right. I already view it as a monopoly. There is a reason the mafia used labor unions to for their companies. They could drive up prices to whtever they wanted and there wasn't a darn thing anybody could do about it. There is two ways to fix this problem...abolish the union, or get rid of the demand. I don't see the demand changing.

Wow, what a ****in' moron. Really?! Modern day slavery?!

Hey AP, you can walk away from your millions for playing a kid's game any time you want.

you all do understand that it was just a comparison right?like in terms of power/leverage...

of course his statements are hyperbolic, but we have the ability to use higher level thinking and not take words literally, right?

it's funny that people took to term that he said that he's comparing NFL to modern day slavery, but not taking to term the entire message.

what he said is true, and that goes for black and white players alike, they are all indeed glorified slaves...

the media has a way of twisting statements..its an old formula that works every time to manipulate the public.not falling for the mind control manipulation is key here.

Sure, they have no power, but they are being paid more money than most of us will ever see in our lives, and saying it's modern day slavery? I realize he's frustrated by the current NFL situation, referring to the fact that the players have no power in the league. However, using the term "modern day slavery" to describe the situation isn't just stupid and naive, it could also be offensive to some.

Next time Adrian Peterson opens his mouth, he may want to take the time to think about what he is saying.

you think dr. laura thought about what she said? imus thought about what he said? howard stern?charlie sheen, when he was addressing denise richards? i agree, they ALL have to choose their words wisely. all he is saying is this lockout is unfair to the players and people who work under the organization no matter how much money they're getting, because these owners are using these people to fatten their pockets and its clear and even if adrian peterson is speaking out...in his own capacity.. the point is that he and many players are not taking this lightly. and if you want to attack jalen rose and adrian peterson for what they said, go ahead it's your feelings and opinions, but also understand the point being made here...

again they are ALL indeed glorified "slaves".keep in mind the "media" is not going to lay it all out for you and have you have that deeper understanding about whats being said here.

question:"when has he last time anyone has heard anything about the "bp oil spill"?anyone have a youtube video affirming the medias claims?the media has a way of presenting things to the public that are meant to confuse people or may not be true at all.i bet if adrian had a one on one with you in person, you would see where he is coming from.

Oh no doubt. I hate the media. They love to distort things and make misleading headlines. Peterson likely added more than the what the article said he did, but based off of what the article provided, I think he's foolish. I'm certain he explained his comment more in depth, but again, the article chose not to print that because it wouldn't be as controversial then.

see, thats exactly what im talking about.the media is all about causing a stir and selling articles.they couldn't care less what he actually meant.could he have chosen his words differently?sure, but the focus they have you SEE, is the "slave" thing.
