Provided that no other team moves in front of us, its a very probable scenario that this guy falls to us if he gets past the Vikings (which out all the teams ahead of us now is the most probable to take him), is it worth it to draft this guy just due to the sheer fact he is so talented and its rare to see a guy like that still available at the #9 spot? That is though if we are unable to deal him away as there aren't too many teams below us starving for a RB. The Jets are one and they do also have two second rounders (imagine having 6 first day picks with 4 of them being in the second round), but I dunno about the likelihood of that.

I don't think the situation changes much when it comes to Peterson.

I think the Falcons have put themselves in position to move up for Calvin Johnson and I also believe Cleveland couldn't be happier about it.

In an ideal situation, Cleveland could move down to 8, add extra picks, and still have Peterson fall right upon their laps.

And that is exactly what I think is going to happen if JaMarcus Russell goes number 1 to Oakland.

But even if Atlanta where to stay put at 8, Warrick Dunn is 32 years old.

A very good question and Petersen should be a great RB. Should we consider drafting him to compliment Ronnie Brown?

i hate that. it would only be five picks with no first round pick because you wasted it on AP just to trade him away. it will NEVER happen. anyway i believe the browns will take AP if they dont trade down.

I think falcons want landry

Despite how talented Peterson, it would be a mistake for us to draft him. If reinstated, Ricky Williams is better and would come at a much cheaper price.

Buffalo and Green Bay are two teams that would love to have his services.

I'm not so sure I would want to trade down 16 spots in the 1st round.

I would definitely draft Peterson if no one offered to trade up for him.

I would not allow his value to pass us by simply because teams might call our bluff and say "You don't need a RB. He'll fall some more."

BS. I'd draft Peterson if no offers are being made and force one. Someone will eventually come calling for a guy that in any other draft would have probably been the 1st pick.

And what's the worst thing that can come out of us taking Peterson? Miami has 2 first round picks in the backfield? Remind you of any other team managed by Mueller? I'm sure you remember what someone gave up for one of those first round picks.

I've been saying it all along, I really like Brady Quinn but Peterson falling to us may be the best situation for our franchise.

Anyways, I think Stanton in the 2nd might be a steal for who ever drafts him. That is one tough QB.

It's a possibility. And if they stay at 8 and Peterson doesn;t fall, I'm sure Landry will be their pick.

But I think you're wrong. I think Atlanta wants Calvin Johnson and they are going to make a serious play for him.

If Peterson falls to us, we would be stupid to not get both Buffalo and Green Bay on the phone and say "who wants him most?" Someone will trade up for him. Peterson just might be the second best player in the draft after Johnson.

If someone wants to move up to 9 to take him then fine but I don't know about taking him without having a trade in place....also if we're gonna move down we need to feel that the player we want will be there for us at the lower spot too.

Ozzy rules!!

You don't know, Mueller does. Ask him about Duece and Ricky. Ask him what he got for Ricky later.

Someone has to make you a decent offer to be able to make a trade. Are both of you guys saying that if no one offers a trade we should let a prospect who could be a #1 pick in any other draft slip through our fingers?

Yes.

When the Saints drafted Ricky, they thought they were just a great running back away from being a Super Bowl contender. When that didn't pan out, Ditka was fired. Jim Haslet came in and started getting rid of almost everyone Ditka brought in and Ricky Williams was the poster child for the Ditka era.

When the Dolphins aquired about obtaining Ricky, Mueller jump at the chance. He was probably surprised that we agreed to his offer of two 1st round draft picks and accepted before we could change our minds.

I'm sure it was a little more complicated than that. I doubt we just went "whoops, we didn't mean that" to which New Orleans responded "no take-backs"

Are you forgetting who our head coach was at the time?

Just thinking about it makes me :boohoo:
