I was discussing the superbowl with my friend and one of the reasons I said Pittsburgh would win is because they are the more battle tested team. He said that wasn't a valid reason since Seattle won the NFC. that got me thinking, is the AFC better than the NFC? here are my findings:
7 of the top 10 scoring offenses are in the AFC
6 of the top 10 yardage offenses are in the AFC
5 of the top 10 scoring offenses are in the AFC/NFC
7 of the top 10 yardage defenses are in the NFC
8 of the top 10 most effective QBs are in the AFC (based on QB rating)
5 of the top 10 RBs were in the AFC/NFC (rushing yards)
8 of the top 10 WRs were in the NFC (rec. yards)
7 of the top 10 sackers were in the AFC
6 of the top 10 INTers were in the NFC
8 of the top 10 tacklers were in the AFC
the AFC was 34-30 against the NFC this season
so in my research I found that the AFC was only a bit better than the NFC, but draw your own conclusions
