I'm the Man in the Box
I was rather delightfuly surprised last week when the patriots shot themselves in the foot and blew a very winnable game against the panthers. It wasn't until i saw the injury report that i saw a good indicator of why they lost.
Patriots
Questionable
OLB Tully Banta-Cain (Knee)
WR Andre' Davis (Foot)
CB Randall Gay (Ankle)
T Brandon Gorin (Thigh)
DE Jarvis Green (Shoulder)
WR Bethel Johnson (Thigh)
P Josh Miller (Shoulder)
G Steve Neal (Back)
CB Tyrone Poole (Ankle)
SS James Sanders (Ankle)
CB Chad Scott (Shoulder)
CB Duane Starks (Thigh)
Probable
QB Tom Brady (Shoulder)
If you look at this they have some very significant injuries, especially to their secondary. 4 of their cornerbacks are injured. Of them the biggest losses are Randal Gay, and Tyrone Poole. The pats have shown that they could overcome injuries last year, but 2 years in a row? On Sunday you could see some surprising numbers from Roethlisburger. Besides that the only other big injury is to Jarvis Green. With the pats running more 4-3 schemes to hide their deficiencies in their ILB position, Jarvis would be a key loss. This would force them to revert to the 3-4 with Chad Brown Back in the middle. Before anyone jumps to any conclusions realize that the pats have excellent depth across the board, and know how to shore up a D. But it is still an extra hurdle they will have to overcome this year among many others.
JETS
Doubtful
FB B.J. Askew (Ankle)
DE Trevor Johnson (Head)
Questionable
SS Erik Coleman (Thumb)
FB Jerald Sowell (Ankle
Probable
RB Curtis Martin (Knee)
The jets had a few injuries against the Fins, but nothing really serious. Martin is back in practice and is planning to play on sunday. Coleman returned to the game after breaking his thumb wearing a soft cast. The real problem is they now lack depth at the FB position. As you all should remeber sowell caught a TD against us last week. If he doesn't dress the jets will miss him in both his blocking and catching aspects.
BILLS
Out
WR Roscoe Parrish (Wrist)
Questionable
TE Tim Euhus (Shoulder)
MLB London Fletcher (Hamstring)
SS Lawyer Milloy (Thumb)
T Mike Williams (Ankle)
The Bills had some key injuries to them last week vs the Bucs. The biggest one may be T Mike Williams. With their running game currently struggling because of the lack of attention D's are giving to losman, it only seems to get worse from here. Mcgahee is being consistently hit in the backfield, and teams are starting to cheat up on the run. With Williams out an already suspect Offensive line begins to raise more doubts. Losman has yet to throw his first Int, mainly because he's smart enough to throw it away, but the bills will start to get impatient if the coaches catch more balls that their receivers. With Roscoe out the tandem the picked up from the "U" are both on the bench. Add to that the injury to Euhus and the bills are looking a little thin in the TE position. Lawyer milloy pulled a coleman, and played most of the game last week with a broken thumb. He probably will play this week also, just don't expect him to make a pick. Fletcher aslo may not play on sunday, but the bills have depth and 2 other excellent LB's in posey and Spikes.
Dolphins
Questionable
FB Sammy Morris (Shoulder)
No big injuries here. The dolphins are the least injured team in the AFC east. Last time i checked their wasn't an award for that so we'll just call it an added bonus for being a fin fan. If sammy doesnt play on sunday expect to see some more of minor and if he's activated Chatman. With out sammy brown will need to step it up this week.
Thats the injury report...Please feel free to update this at anytime. Now back to this work that i need to do...
