What doesn't make Marshall a playmaker? He can go up and grab the ball with some of the best, he is one of the best at YAC, and has great hands. The only thing you could've put against him was home run speed which he has worked greatly on this year and is looking to be faster this year.

Playmakers are a threat to score from anywhere on the field, playmakers are guys that turn short gains into long gains and make moving down the field much quicker and easier. Marshall is a a guy who is going to move the chains(which is important) but he's not a playmaker.

Get out of here, didn't you see him in denver? He went up and got the ball and he could make great YAC. Have you ever seen his Cowboys game catch? He did that on a dailiy basis. He's more of a playmaker than Santonio Holmes is in every way.

How does one have such great YAC yet only average 12 yds per rec?

Here is the way I see it;

1 - Pats - As long as they have Brady and Bellacheat they are the ones to beat. I am not sold on Fat Albert or Chad O however if there is any team that can get the best out of them it is the Pats. Their lack of a pass rusher (again, not assuming Fat Albert becomes the pro bowl player he was) is still a big hole. I don't know much about their cornerbacks but I didn't see their D as much of a force last season.

2 - Dolphins/Jets - This can flip flop all season long depending on many things. If the Dolphins get positive production from Henne and their OC can use their offensive weapons they get the nod here. Again, that's a big questions mark at the moment. The potential is there and the defense gets better with the addition and getting back players that were injured last season. Also, another year in Nolan's defense is always a plus.

The Jets have the continuity of their coaching staff, which has been good since fat Rex got there. They lost the race on Nnamdi but got their fall back option (Cromatie). However, like the Pats, they don't have a pass rusher. Regardless of how some here are trying to spin it the Jets have lost a lot on offense and are gambling with Plax quickly becoming the player he was. All this does is add more pressure to Sanchez to do more with less. And it's been proven when it's on Shanchez's shoulders to carry the team he has not shown that. Look no further then last season to see that he had more on offense to work with then he does heading into this season now. Only a blind homer will assume, right now, that the Jets are better OR EVEN at the same level on offense as they were last season.

4 - Buffalo - While I agree that they have, as of last season, the 2nd best qb in the division there is just too much turn over to put it together quickly to keep up with the rest of the division. Not to say they can't because the division always plays each other very tough and injuries always dictate where teams go.

So heading into the season every team has question marks. Outside of the Pats all the other teams have very big question marks that will dictate how they do within the division and in the AFC as a whole.

Marshall is a guy who can score anywhere, and if you had watched Marshall with Denver you would've seen how much of a threat he is and how we've misused him. And Marshall is a great YAC guy and mostly when he makes a long catch, he will finish that play.

Because both the Broncos and the Dolphins liked to utilize him with screens and short routes to take advantage of his YAC the only problem was the Dolphins almost always ran these routes and hardly ever took a risk downfield.

It always makes me feel good when you chime in w/ your anti-Jets comments. Yeah, sanchez proved if you put it on his shoulders he can't win, I guess that's why he only had 4-5 late comeback wins last year through the air.:lol2:

It's ok to admit you are scared of the Jets.

His yards per in den was 12.3. he's NOT a playmaker, he is a top WR but he's not a playmaker. That doesn't mean he never makes plays but he is not a playmaker, he's a great possession guy.

Hey, make sure that you come back here when Sanchez starts to sink the ship that is the Jets offense.

No need to chime in on any "anti-Jets comment's". Please. Let us know what's in that homer mind of yours when it comes to describing your offense now??? I'd love to read what you'll say about that. Again, I'm sure Sanchez is gonna do better with less now. I also love your "4-5 comeback wins"...lol. Like Sanchez was the REASON for those comebacks. I don't want to hear your view on those comebacks cause I've read them over and over and over again throughout other threads here. You'll say anything to give Sanchez credit for everything and assume he is this great qb.

Had the Jets gotten Nnamdi then their D would have been scary to throw on but that didn't happen and all you did was stay stagnant in the CB position while losing pieces on the rest of your D. On offense the Jets have NOTHING to be scared of and if you think differently then I am not surprised. Outside of Holmes who's already shown he can take it to the house very quickly you have nothing else. You've lost almost all of your wr's, your starting RT has retired, LT proved to break down as the season progressed and Greene hasn't done anything to write home about as of yet.

The Dolphins didn't use Marshall right and didn't let him spread out enough and didn't give him the chance to make the big play. He can make the plays when giving the opportunity to, but in Miami there was just never a risk to throw to him deep. Marshall had 10 touchdowns the year before last and was always a threat to score.

ITT: The term playmaker is empirical and quantifiable.

So edwards is a playmaker but marshall is not? lol? marshall is better than edwards dude..

I wouldn't even put Edwards into the playmaker category but he's closer than Marshall. He averages 16 yds per, he's more of a deep threat than a guy who takes a short slant and can make big plays out of them. he caught a TD once every 8.4 recs, Marshall once every 14.8

Unlike you I don't run and hide when things go bad for my teams.

Nah, Mark had no role in those comebacks at all- it was a ghost passing the ball to those receivers to win those games.

I evaluate Mark for what he is and that's a good QB who is getting better. Nothing more, I never said he carried us, I never called him great, I never even said that he will be great. he's just good right now and I expect him to be better this year than he was last year.

Had we got Nnamdi it would have been impossible to throw to WRs against us but we didn't and we still have the best corner in the game and probably the best duo(1st or 2nd w/ Philly) so it will still not be easy to throw on us.

On O we have Holmes, Plax, Greene, LT, Keller- we have more than enough weapons for our QB and a good Ol.

I agree he can be a much bigger weapon than he showed last year(and he still had a good year) but he's not a playmaker. I'd love to have a guy like that on my team, he's a top WR but he's a possession guy.

Your explanation for a "playmaker" is flawed. Yes Brandon Marshall had 12 YPC last year but so Did Ftzgerald, but he's not a playmaker I guess? What about Roddy White? He only had 12.1 YPC. What about Reggie Wayne? He only had 12.2 YPC last year, but none of them are Playmakers to you?

Larry Fitzgerald, not a playmaker.

Did

Fitz did not have a great playmaking year last year, that doesn't mean he isn't a playmaker just like a great play here and there for Marshall doesn't mean he is a playmaker. He still had 6 TDs(which would be as good as all but 2 of Marshall's seasons) and played w/ the worst starting QBs in the league(they make Henne look like marino).

Wayne is slowing down in his older years. He's been a playmaker most of his career, since '06 six TDs has been his low(would be 3rd highest of Marshall's career).
