AFC Playoff tiebreakers


N.Y. Jets are currently the No. 3 seed by way of a better division record over New England and Buffalo (2-1 to Patriots' 1-1 and Bills' 0-2).

Baltimore are currrently the No. 5 seed by way of a better conference record over Buffalo and New England (5-3 to Bills' 3-2 and Patriots' 3-3).

Indianapolis earns the No. 8 seed by way of a better conference record percentage over Miami (.600 to Dolphins' .571).

San Diego earns the No. 10 seed by way of a better conference record percentage over Jacksonville and Houston (Jaguars' .375).

Jacksonville earns the No. 11 seed by head-to-head record over divisional opponent Houston (1-0).

There is a great website called www.playoffstatus.com which breaks down the Dolphins possibilities of making it.

Just want to share.

not far out... if we want to make the playoff's our best bet is winning the AFC east
we need 10 wins, i see our entire divison going 8-8 bills,9-7pats,9-7jest, 10-6miami
 
i see no reason with the way the team is playing now we cant run the table. are team chemistry is great right now and we are really well coached and disciplined,and thats the perfect recipe for a good team.

Run the table, they do that every night as i am trying to fall asleep. But in real life, i think you would get real good odds if you want to try and place that bet.

I still think we lose one to either or both of buffalo or NE that would put our loss total to 6 and if we do not come to play in every single game we will lose one that we are not expecting to lose.

On top of our game, with our schedule we SHOULD be 10-6
but with the way we are run blocking we better play PERFECT football from here on out.

ok see, you guys are going to pull me back in again. I tried and am trying to enclose my heart in stone, every year i get some shred of hope until at the last minute, the dolphins rip my heart out of my chest and stomp on it (while pointing and laughing at me) :(

It started in 85 with our last superbowl and hasnt stopped since.

I was hoping to get a bit closer (maybe even a winning record) before i start gushing dolphin pride but you all are making it so hard, Maybe i will declare our goodness now and blame you guys later :lol:

Lets beat the Seahawks and the Raiders first. The mediocre teams are the ones that give us trouble.

That is a HUGE myth.

Look at the Jets: They're 5-3
Cards: I believe their also 5-3
Texans- Have won 3 straight games since they beat us.
Ravens- I believe their also 5-3.

How are those mediocre teams?

When you say mediocre are you talking about the 5-3 ravens, the division leading jets or the division leading cardinals?

Or when you said medicre teams did you actually mean medocre team (as in not plural?)

If thats the case then i agree we did have trouble with the texans, unfortuantly we have always had trouble with them

Conversely, we have gone out and beaten the Patriots and Bills (5-2 each when you do not include us).

i am totally confused by this post so much so im at a loss for words.

The patriots and the bills have the exact same record as the ravens and the jets

If you use competition as a guide for good and bad teams them i hate to inform you of this but the titans are a bad team. (and they are undefeated)

Never use if in a discussion, it never proves anything.
