I think that Shefter was overstepping and pulled the trigger too fast on the "Culpepper will be released" speculation.
Why? Because according to Cameron in the PC, he stated that he was not going to make a decision on Culpepper's status until after the QB camp in April.
Then, the fact that Green has agreed to restructure and lower his contract...means that he won't be making anymore than an incentive laden contract. Playing time would dictate how much he makes.
If DC shows he's ready at QB camp, then he's the guy and Green is the backup and he won't cost much more than Harrington would've.
Finally, I believe that MIA can't be "that" dumb to just release Culpepper knowing that Green is also coming off an injury and is a wee bit younger than Noah.
I would think that MIA would at the very least keep Culpepper...and if he isn't ready, start Green and you still have until the trading deadline in Oct to get something in return for DC when teams may/will have QB's injured and/or struggling that may give up something for Culpepper.
So, it's not sound logic for us to just go and release a potentially top 5 QB that we just gave up a 2nd round pick for without giving him a real chance at a comeback.
So, whoa there nelly to Shefter...
Also, it looks like Cameron is not going for Levi Brown in the draft.
