The Miami Herald is currently running a poll on who the Dolphins greatest player is besides Dan Marino. Seems like a good question to ponder during the lull in the offseason.

You know the Dolphins' 50th anniversarytwoseason is upcoming. The team will be making a big deal of it. So will the Miami Herald. As a part of that I'll be naming the Top 50 figures in franchise history in our special section coming out in August -- figures, meaning not just players. However for the purpose of this poll I'm sticking to players, conceding that (spoiler alert!) Dan Marino is No. 1, and inviting you to suggest who should be the franchise's top-ranked player other than Marino. I have listed six reasonable contenders plus a slot for "other." You can only choose one. (Nobody said life was fair, or easy). Remember, this is the greatest Dolphins player not counting Marino. Vote and say why you chose as you did.

IMHO,

1. Dan Marino
2. Larry Csonka
3. Dwight Stephenson

My pup votes for his namesake ... Csonka!

My favorite is Tony Nathan but the best player after Danny boy was Zonk.

Hey Bump your hound dog is at least 2 years old. No longer a pup :)

It's got to be Csonka. Got to be. Could easily make the case he ought to be #1 up there.

For Me it was Zack Thomas. Zonk was great. Great great great.........but he played in several championship seasons. he was a part of several great teams. maybe the best ever.

Zack Thomas was the only bright light for me during the dark ages of football for us. No matter how bad we sucked, he got up went to every game and destroyed side line to sideline. Yeah You can also say JT was there during those times, but he also went to the Jets for a season. I can forgive that , but you cant ever be remembered as the best and go play anywhere else in the AFC east. Nope. Zack Thomas is my favorite all time Dolphin next to Dan. I hope to shake his hand one day. Why the current Team doesn't Tap him for at least a consultant on defense is beyond me .
