Im thinking Elliot is the guy at 8. Its high for a RB, but the guy is a stud. I think Bosa would have to fall to us, or we take Stanley. Im not sure. Just want to see everyone's thoughts

I still think CB is a position of great need unless grimes somehow stays. RB will definitely have to be addressed either FA or early in the draft. Elliot would be a great pick

Free Agency hasnt even begun yet and we have no clue what we gave up...

If we end up in FA with a:

starting guard
pacman
maxwell **done
alonso ** done
edge rusher
re-sign miller or decent running back
possible safety

that is better than most thought we'd end up going into the draft. regardless of losing miller or vernon.

if this trade was for a 4th or 5th rounder, the reaction on this site was WAY overblown. Justifiably so, we are all scorned. just saying.

That's too high for a RB. We have bigger needs. We don't need a star RB to win.

Agreed rob, I'm on the fence about the players we are getting BUT, if all we gave up was a 5th for two guys. oh well. It's a lateral move more or less, at cb at least. If Kiko can play, he will be a big upgrade in the middle. In my mind, this does not take Jack off the table for us if we are at 8. Maxwell shouldn't change any of our thoughts about drafting a corner early either. I just really really hope that we didn't swap 1sts with philly or send them multiple things.

Really hope we can retain Miller. We absolutely must bring in talent for the OL too, and not try to get cute about it. At safety- maybe Michael Griffin wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, or Rashad Johnson for a younger player?

No chance in hell they draft a RB. There'd literally be no point. It would have to be CB, DE, or LB. They still need at least two guards as well.

Better lock Miller up because we still need 2 more CB, another starting caliber LB, DE, FS, and 2 guards.

Grimes gone lol and maxwell is not a #1 CB

Don't really think replacing Grimes with a below average CB in Maxwell really changes much. Neither does adding another injury prone guy to fill the MLB spot. Team still needs another CB, LB, DE, FS, OG, DT, OT and of course a RB if Miller is gone. Free Agency is just getting started, so still a lot of moves that can/will be made. Don't think a RB in the 1st round would be the best move though. We shall see how things progress over the next couple months.

This team picking a RB 8th would be one of the most insane draft moves I have ever seen.

Also if we are now picking 13 and that's cost us Hargreaves or Jack then we have seriously ****ed up.

can this rb play some defense?

if not, hell no

Oh you opened up somthing here! If the qb cant step it up in year 5.....then we do.

Lets see how the rest of FA plays out. If they address defensive needs in FA, there are still holes in offense. Basically there are enough holes to go around

This move makes sense because of Miko, salary for the decline of a player and the future. Biggest mistake we can make is holding onto a player one year too long, esp if it stops the growth and maturation of another younger one. It is time to let go of the Grimes, Wakes and Jordans of this team.

Right, but their is better talent on defense towards the front of the draft this year.
