After visiting Dolphins & Broncos camps, Peter King says David Garrard looks better

Get real.

Remember all the threads about how "awesome" Henne was in training camp last year? I'll wait for the real season (not the preseason). I have to hand it to the NFL though. They do a great job of pumping up the importance of these things, especially preseason games, in order to convince fans of even the most godawful teams (not saying us, though last year it absolutely was) that their team has a chance this year.

I'll take a 70-80% Manning over Garrard any day of the week, especially on Sunday.

Peyton's greatest strength is when he can look at a defense and make changes pre-snap. Now at the same time the Broncos don't have the most skilled skilled position players.

Still, if Garrard does better than Peyton I'll be shocked.

Actually they have Knowshon Moreno, Willis McGahee, Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas, Jason Hill and Jacob Tamme, and I'm looking for Tamme to have a big year this year. Dude has some major quicks for a TE and he might end up being an Aaron hernandez type of weapon at TE for Manning and the Broncos.

No.

The question still has not been answered. How will Manning take multiple hits in a real game. It's wait and see. Does anyone else wonder if Manning is off limits in camp to their defense? I think the coaching staff cringes every time a defensive player is bearing down on him for an eventaul sack.

I remember when the clowns in the local media were ecstatic and raving about how good Beck was in camp.

Peter King is a very over-rated guy who writes for SI. I would not give him a passing grade in NFL knowledge or in unbiased reporting either.

Ireland likes Garard a lot though. I remember last season how hard he was trying to get him to sign with the fins.

Tannehil might get the nod who knows. Wait until after that first preseason game.

the thing about peyton manning is he's so smart and he recognizes coverages and what you want to do and where he needs to go with the ball so quickly that you rarely can even get a hand on him let alone hit him...how many games can i count with that guy where his uni looked like it had never been worn afterwards...

He gets rattled and plays poorly when he is pressured.

His face turns bright red. Now that he has his neck to think about who knows how well he will deal with pressure?

The Broncos have a monster defense though. You've got to think that their running game will be better with Manning and that play action pass.

If 'you know who' on the Steelers gets a clean shot on him, Manning could be starting his retirement in 2012.

When I think about the Dolphins QB situation since Marino retired, Tannehill is the 1 that seems to be the most likely to ACTUALLY become something we Dolfan's can become proud of. Feidler won my respect after showing guts on a weekly basis, he may have never had the arm, but, he had moxy and won alot of games. Culpepper, Green and others just made me sick with false hope. Pennington was a gift from heaven and believe IF he had stayed healthy, Miami would have made some noise. Henne gave me the most hope, because I thought being a 4 year starter and coming from a Big 10 school would give him an advantage. But all Henne did was turn into a damn robot, thanks in large part to the prior regime and their antics. Henne showed he could play in 2009, but damn did he fall off the pile in 2010-2011. I will never look at a QB situation the same after the Henne and Culpepper disasters. Tannehill is different in that he fits the offense and the coaching staff like a glove. Since he signed his contract he's been nothing short of fantastic; a kid that shows tremendous promise. If he can continue at this pace his learning curve will eventually get him time as a starter in 2012. But it's his future I'm most excited about. Finally, as a life long fan, I feel like the future is moving in the right direction. He showed in the scrimmage today he can play this game and with more experience and seasoning, the sky is the limit for him. I realize it's a scrimmage, but, it's how he took command and control while out there, that gives me hope . Go DOLPHINS!!!

Convenient. Don't worry, I'll provide some links to them when I get home for a refresher. One of my favorites was one based entirely on a Reggie Bush tweet.

Its the old addage that a great player goes to another team and just isnt the same. I think Denver just wasted 100million dollars. Thats just me though.

still, I'd take Manning at 80% over DG at 100%

If he's physically able to perform, yes, absolutely. But would you also take his $100,000,000 over 5 years contract?

I did not want Peyton before Peyton Mania and I suppose I am one of the few who is glad we didn't get him. I think he was just looking to cash in and I don't think he will ever be close to what he was. As I said back in November, that injury scares the **** outta me and our team isn't one 35 year old hall of fame QB with a serious neck injury away from a Super Bowl.
