After watching yesterday's games I came away with the conclusion that the biggest difference in dominate teams and mediocre teams is quarterback play. Watching Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, Ben Rothlesburger, Joe Flacco and Philip Rivers play yesterday the teams that can throw in between the safety and corner in zone cover and deep on man cover are teams that are going to be there at the end of the year. I love Penny but teams that play us no longer fear the deep pass. I am convinced that we are still a year away with the 2 rookie corners and ILB situation, and think it's time to find out if Chad Henne is a NFL QB, let him get some on the job training. If he's not toward the end of the year let's see Pat White. One thing for damn sure we may make the playoffs with Penny but we will go NO further, even the playoffs look distant now. What say all of you?

Leave Penny for now. I hate to say it but it is unlikely that his body holds up the entire season. When Henne gets in he will be a rookie. We will lose games because of mistakes he will make in games. Fans will be furious (me too) of course.

If Pennington stays healthy all year and we do not go to the playoffs he may get passed over and expect the management to shop another veteran QB.

Ben Roethisberger and Phillip Rivers played OK, but they still lost.. I think we are exactly the same way we were last year... we are looking for a W

The biggest difference in a dominating team and the Dolphins is NOT just QB play. It is mostly dominating defenses that make dominating NFL teams. Our biggest concerns is definitely not QB.

With exception of a few teams, most teams play close to the vest and simply play not to make mistakes down the stretch. Most of the NFL games are competitve going into the fourth quarter. Miami had an exceptional year last season with not turning over the ball, thus they made the playoffs. Remember Drew Brees passed for 5000 yards and Phillip Rivers led the AFC in passing last year and both the Saints and Chargers were 8-8.

We'll go as far as the D and run offense take us hopefully we meet a lot of poor tackling teams but our QB cannot throw like these other mentioned..., it's all dink and dunk...

I concur..I think our defense is terrible..

Channing Crowder is not Zach Thomas and he is always out of position or should I say puts himself out of position. He can't cover the pass as well.

Lets talk about our secondary..I'm more worried about Will Allen than Smith and Davis and I'm very worried the rookies.

If I was the coach, I would bench players who are not producing :

I can see that Taylor, Fergusson, Merling, Langford deserve to be here.

I would actually bench Porter who is invisible in favor of Moses or Wake..

I would bench Crowder for Torbor and bench Starks for Merling.

That would light up a fire up their a$$es..

Got to disagree with you respectfully that the D is a bigger problem than our pass offense..., granted for us the run sets up the pass in play-action but no decent D respects our QB and you can look at the near loss column last year and see how we squeaked out a few wins beacuse teams stack up the line of scrimmage - No WR can seperate fast enough for Pennington "floaters"
