Glory Glory to Ole Georgia
Will actually play a good game. First of all, I'm not a Guskateer or any other qb groupie, in fact, I think it's time for a change with Sage. But I'll let Nick make that call. Now, the reason I believe that Gus will play well (by well I don't mean the Broncos game but at least complete more than 50% of his passes). Here's why?
1) This is Nick Saban's most aniticipated game since he accept his job offer. Personally I believe having the opportunity to play Bill Belichick twice a year had something to do with his accepting the Dolphins job. Many teams had been wooing him for years, but he never accepted. Anyway, this game is so huge for Nick that he will definitely put the ball in the hands of his best players R&R. I think this is the game where Nick is going to run, run, run. Saban wants this game very badly, so I don't think Gus will be put in a situation where he could lose this game. This game has to be about keeping our offense on the field, keeping Brady off it, and moving chains. Therefore, with what I believe will be a Steeler-like dedication to the run, I think Gus will be successful because he will only be asked to throw on occasion on short and intermediate routes. Possibly getting McMichael more involved in this game, but I don't expect many deep balls at all.
2) Additionally, I don't expect there will be too many trick plays this game. Linehan has really been under the gun this week for the 3 and 2 call, and I think this will definitely play into his game planning.
I honestly believe that Gus will play a modestly decent game because he won't be asked to do much. This Sunday, Saban will actually ask Gus to "manage the game" by handing it to 23 and 34 and throwing an occasional slant.
