Dolphins | Agent denies Harrington prefers Miami
Mon, 3 Apr 2006 11:19:38 -0700

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports agent David Dunn debunked a weekend report that Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington preferred the Miami Dolphins over the Cincinnati Bengals, the only two teams with which Harrington has visited so far. "He liked both situations," Dunn told ESPN.com. "He liked the organizations and the coaches and, in a lot of ways, there are similarities, with both the (starting quarterbacks) coming off injuries. Nothing has been decided yet, but I don't think it will be a whole lot longer." The third team that has demonstrated the most interest in Harrington, the Denver Broncos, have not scheduled a visit.

The agent just doesn't want Cincy to pack in the negotiations. He 'debunked' the rumor by saying he liked both situations. Sounds like a safe way to cover all bases without actually saying 'the Dolphins are not front runners'.

Since when are the Bungle's as attractive as the Fins? I'm starting to rue the day when Cincinnati became competitive again! Credit Marvin Lewis.

The Bengals were once competitive? When? Sorry for asking but I'm only 24 years.

They had 2 Super Bowl Appearances in the 1980s - both losses to the 49ers.

What else is he supposed to say??? If he confirms this then other teams won't show that much interest anymore because they will KNOW he would rather be elsewhere...

I live in Cincinnati and when Harrington came here the Bengals had said that he wanted to much money and that they would be forced to move on.They have meetings with Anthony Wright and Jamie Martin comeing up soon.If they sign Martin or Wright then i think Harrington is ours.Im not sure if im happy with that or not.If we are going to pay him 2 mill a year then i think we should have kept Gus.Gus already knows the system and he is a good backup.

He's just doing his job as an agent, making sure ALL markets are open to his breadwinner (oops, I mean player?). If he didn't say that, he'd be a pretty poor agent.

Ok, so it's before your time, but it was in the early 80's when Boomer Easiason was the QB. They made it to the SB against the 49ers and lost...one of the playoff games (against SD, I think) was played in about 10-13 below zero weather with wind chills in the -20's...they are a decent team...Had Icky Woods as their RB....

Actually, Ken Anderson led them to their first SB, in 1981.

Yeah, the Bengals actually had several winning seasons in the 1980's.
