Reggie White, a two-time NFL defensive player of the year who died last year at 43, heads a list of players, coaches and contributors eligible for induction in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

White is eligible for the first time along with quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Warren Moon. Other first-year eligible players include running back Thurman Thomas, wide receiver Andre Reed and offensive lineman Dermontti Dawson.

NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue and longtime owners Art Modell and Ralph Wilson are on the preliminary list that includes five former head coaches and 11 contributors.

A member of the NFL's 75th anniversary team, White was named to the Pro Bowl a record 13 straight times from 1986-98. He earned top defensive player honors in 1987 and 1998. He retired in 2000 as the career sacks leader with 198, a mark later passed by Bruce Smith.

White, who played with Philadelphia, Green Bay and Carolina, died on Dec. 26 in Cornelius, N.C.

i think most of those guys will make it easily. white, aikman, moon, modell and wilson are all locks, right? tagliabue has been a fantastic commissioner, but i'm not sure if he can squeeze in on the bill with those other guys

All those guys deserve to make it, Moon was really underrated. Michael Irvin didnt make it last year did he? He should be in also.

Reggie White is the only one that deserves to go in on the first ballot. The other guys all deserve to be in but they're not the elite of the elite. Aikman was very over rated throughout his career.

Marino probaly wouldnt have as many attempts thats for sure. He would have gone farther more times in the playoffs though if had a player like Emmitt and that line. Not to mention the defense.

Aikman is a little mediocre as a HOF candidate but he was one of the if not the leader on one of the great teams of their decade. He and Emmitt and some of the lineman deserve to get in. Look at old Steelers teams, etc a ton of those players got in, some like Lynn Swann undeservedly.

Moon is a first ballot guy though. He finished in the top 5 in every passing category that matters. He spent sometime in the CFL because he was black, he would have even more impressive numbers if he been let into the NFL when he should have been. He spent 6 seasons in the CFL, his numbers would rival if not surpass Marinos if he hadnt been a victim of the racist crap the NFL used to be.

any QB that won 3 super bowls gets in automatically

Reggie White is a lock...Aikman just benefitted from being on 3 SB teams....Moon spent most of his career playing Canadian Football so I would not say he is a lock, Keuch deserves to be there, but I feel he will get overlooked. :(

Paul Tagliabue??? What has Tags done besides announcing the first draft picks every year?
