AJ McCarron teams are telling him he is 1-2 rd grade "experts" give him 3-5 rd grade

I heard Alabama's OT Cyrus Kouandjio interviewed the other day and I was surprised to hear him say that AJ McCarron played a significant part in leading the Alabama Offense to many successes in recent years. While AJ has the image of just being a decent game manager, he did a pretty good job in executing the game plans to victories. Playing under an extreme micro manager in Saban would also not have been easy.
While McCarron is probably seen to be pretty vanilla compared to some of the other QBs in the Draft, he could make a very good backup QB. I think that Aaron Murray has more upside but I could see us getting interested in McCarron around the 4th round.

Ive got news for you. If a team dosent trade up into the late 1st to get McCarron, he will be selected early in round 2.

The Texans or Titans could be landing spots for him in round 2. Again though, I wouldnt be shocked to see a team trade into the late 1st to jump those teams from getting him early in round 2.

mccarrons value i'd say falls in the latter half of round 2 to early 3...but who knows with this qb class and i'm not studying them enough when i dont need one to try and nail the position down...he doesn't have anywhere near tannehills physical tools...like it's not even close...i get that is not the end all be all when it comes to qbs but no mccarron is not in tannehills league

You have to give props to QB's who play at Bama & S Carolina.

That said, I am interested to see how Cooper Bateman who played HS here in the SL Valley does in Tuscaloosa now that AJ is moving on.

Always hype surrounding mid tier QBs on power house teams.

Reminds me of Ken Dorsey. Ultimate game manager on a stacked team but zero NFL arm.

he's definitely the best pro prospect qb bamas had in quite a while...i know that much

Drafting McCarron before 3rd round would be a mistake. Us drafting him before 4th would be beyond dumb in this draft.

Big hands and probably the best deep ball thrower in the draft. He actually grew on me the more I watched him this year.

miami shouldn't even consider a qb before day 3...i mean no way should this team burn a top 3 round pick on a qb...no damn way...tannehill would beat them out anyways...day 3 preferably round 5 and on i'm game...4th round pick provided we actually make it a good one we can find a ready to contribute now position player

Large hands, throws a great deep ball, outstanding leader, tremendous poise, tough as nails, intelligent, understands game situations, and has command out there.

His biggest weakness would be the longer throws outside the numbers, in that he lacks the big rifle arm. However his accuracy on deep balls as well as touch throws in the seams makes up for some of that. Kid could be Chad Pennington with the ability to stretch the field because he does have the arm strength and accuracy to hit deep throws.

He also does not avoid the quick heavy pressure well as Hoops pointed out. However, his strengths seriously outweigh the few flaws in his game.
