Akin is suppose to be Jim Romes guest on Rome is Burning today. The show is at 4:30 EST on ESPN if anyone wants to check it out.

I have heard nothing but good things about Akin. I'm thrilled to have him here, and even more thrilled that it cost us nothing.

He was very impressive in Jacksonville in the 4-3. His 2nd year he had over 100 tackles and was productive in Dallas in 2006 with 80 tackles and 2 INT's. Im sure it was a little harder to get stats with Dallas than in Jacksonville with those 2 beasts that were in front of him in the 4-3.

I'm not a guru of 3-4/4-3 schemes, but I do know that Phillips runs a different version of the 3-4 than Bill. Dont ask me to explain the intricacies of why this is the case, but I have read it in several pieces. Seemed like Akin fit better in Parcells', just based purely on his production and the fact that they were willing to let him go for very little in return.

I noticed a drop off in production from 06 to 07. He went from 80 tackles to 55 tackles. I'm sure it iasn't because of age becuase he is only in his 6th year and should be hitting his prime.

should be amusing considering jim rome blasted the dolphins a short time ago and now he wants dolphin players on his show to blast them some more. i agree on akin though..good guy and should help our team considerably.

The age factor is overlooked. The guy is still in his prime, but still veteran enough to tutor the rookies and first/second year guys. This is the 'age group' we have been lacking, and that has been addressed significantly by Parcells and Ireland.

Yeah. He took a cheap shot at my Bobcats and Kevin Garnet yesterday that pissed me off. He is alot like this board in the fact that we don't always get along on certain topics but more time than not we do.

I liked his attitude when the cowboys signed Zach...

yup i alittle upset about the garnet thing myself and im not a big fan of the bobcats. some of what rome says makes since and some don't i just hate the way he acts like he is the know all of every sport. what grinds my gears is jim rome grinding his gears but you almost want to watch just to get mad at someone.

He is always more considerate to his guests since that tennis or baseball player kicked his *** on his FOX show a few years back. That was funny. He kept calling the guy by the wrong name and that guy told him not to do it again and Rome being the SA he was had to do it again and got his head flogged.:sidelol:

The look on Romes face and his chair tipped back and the table got flipped was classic.....it was like "oh oh.....this is really happening"

It was Rams,Saints QB Jim Everett (6'5" 212 lbs) and Rome kept calling him "Chris" as in female tennis player Chis Everett.

Following the 1989 regular season, Everett was reportedly "shellshocked" from the multiple times he was sacked and hit in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers (the 49ers won, 30-3). At one point in the game, Everett was so rattled that he collapsed to the ground in the pocket merely in anticipation of yet another sack, even though the 49ers' defensive players actually had not yet reached him; a play now known as Everett's "phantom sack".[1] From then on he was perceived to shy away from hits, and later acknowledged that his confidence was never fully restored.
This reputation led to Everett's infamous 1994 confrontation with then Talk2 host Jim Rome. Rome had made a habit of repeatedly mocking Everett's reputation for being averse to taking hits by referring to Everett as "Chris" Everett (a reference to female tennis star Chris Evert). Everett appeared as a guest on the show and Rome wasted no time, applying the insult twice within the first 10 seconds of introducing Everett. Everett warned Rome not to do it again, implying that physical consequences would ensue otherwise. Everett, visibly angry by this point, then went on to challenge Rome, predicting that now that the warning had been issued, Rome wouldn't dare to repeat the insult again. Rome promptly applied the insult a third time and Everett responded by physically charging Rome, overturning a table and knocking down Rome live on air before leaving the set. This incident was later parodied on an episode of Cheap Seats with Randy and Jason Sklar portraying the two.

Everett took it easy on Rome at 6'5" and 212 lbs he could have taken Rome or his staff apart if he wanted too.
