Al Johnson to Guard!

He was brought in to compete with Satele at C so i was actually hoping he would play C and have Satele move to guard. We'll see what happens.

I thought moving Satele to G was a bad idea, but it actually sounds like it might happen. If Al Johnson is as smart as Sparano says and has as much experience under Sparano as he does, knows all of the line calls, etc...then this could happen. They might be thinking they want to replace a mobile guy (Smiley) with another mobile guy (Satele).

If Al Johnson does know all the calls and has a good week of practice at C then why not? Satele has been somewhat struggling (whiffs and snaps) and has the agility to play guard.

I just get reluctant to allow the injury bug to spread unnecessarily to three positions when it only needs to affect two.

Very mis-leading title. The Herald said

"REPLACING SMILEY

Focusing on the present is especially critical this week, since the Dolphins have plenty to remedy. Most importantly, Miami must find a way to quickly recover from left guard Justin Smiley's season-ending injury.

Saturday's signing of center Al Johnson, who took the roster spot of injured wide receiver Greg Camarillo, might have come at the perfect time. Johnson started 31 games in Dallas under Sparano, so he is familiar with the system.

And he also is apparently intelligent enough -- and versatile enough -- to potentially make a fast transition to guard. That decision has not yet been made."

If Satele keeps hiking the ground balls back to Ronnie he might find himself on the bench.
