I wonder why Al Saunders hasn't been brought up. The guy has been around football a long time and has coached under some great coaches: Dick Vermeil, Joe Gibbs and Don Coryell. And Marty Schottenheimer.

You want someone who knows offense? This guy knows offense, having been a part of some of the best offenses ever in the NFL. Given the right QB to run his offense (and this may be our biggest issue right now), this guy can put up some points. I'm not so sure Culpepper would be the guy to run Saunders offense, but he may be. Hell, he might excel in it. But if not, this guy would be one who would waste little time in going to get a QB who he thinks would fit in his offensive philosophy. This team, this defense, the fans, are starved for points. He could bring points in bunches.

Anyway, just curious as to why his name hasn't been brought up by anyone else. I don't recall him even being mentioned by the Dolphins as a possibility. Not sure I understand that. He's much more experienced with offense than Cameron is and his type off offense is the type that can make decent guys look good. Where as, IMO, Cameron looks good because of his guys.

Just a thought I wanted to throw out there. Has he declined or has he stated that he simply doesn't want to be considered?

Does he even really want to be a HC again? He might have had enough back in the day when he coached San Diego. I'm sure some come to the realization that some are just great coordinators and not good head coaches. By no means, I'm not saying he wouldn't be after all the time and experience he has had in the nearly 20 years its been since he was the SD coach, but maybe he thinks that. I think he's interviewed for a few jobs over the years, but I don't know that for sure.

Ya but he can go like the Mike Martz type style and only deal with the offense! We have Capers getting a big paycheque to handle that Defense. I think this is a solid choice that needs to be looked at a little more. I was a little convinced with Whisenhunt and I like Cameron but I wouldn't mind an interview with Al Saunders

I agree. Given the coaches we are currently strongly considering, I find it hard to believe his name hasn't been discussed. Unless he has quietly already declined.

Has anyone found any articles or news about him declining us? Or are we not interested for a reason?

Brought him up days after Saban left. General theory we have is that he's put out feelers that he doesn't want a HC job. He's making $2 million plus in Washington right now.
