I never came close to rooting for Bama and now actually root against them, but objectively speaking always revered Bear Bryant as the Gold Standard when it comes to college football coaching and integrity. To me, having a lying, skumbag mercenary even attempting to walk in his footsteps in blasphemous!

Yes he handled it wrong..not as bad as Petrino did.
What was Saban to do? Say I'm outta this place with the idiot owner.
Miami is better off without Nick,and Bama is better off with him.
It's a win/win for both parties.
Plus while a very good book...most true bammers like me don't consider
Eli Gold a true Bama man,just a NASCAR guy that got lucky after
John Forny died.

LOL. Loathing Satan for me is like loving a few women who it turned out I should'nt have. I just go with the flow since at this point, it's viscerally beyond my control. But seriously, there's no comparison between him and BB.

Guess it's getting close to that annual "Saban debate" with my Dolphin brothers.
As a Bama alum and a Dolphins fan ,I guess i'll always be torn on the matter.
To each his own.
Plus, you are right about the "Bear".
Hard to believe it's been 26 years since the "Bear" died.

The only time Saban is ever mentioned in the same breath with Bear Bryant is when someone brings up the fact that he shouldn't be....

I still get chills seeing that picture of Bear leaned up against the goal post at Legion Field every time I see it......and I see it a LOT...lol

Saban's an outstanding football coach and recruiter....that's it...and a rich man...

Bear Bryant is the face of everything sacred about college football....and always will be...
