Assuming that Pouncey is going to be out for a while, we have Albert and what can easily be considered an expansion team's OL in their first or second year. I'm having a problem in seeing how we are going to be improved. Is anyone realistically seeing this differently, and why?

John Benton. The NFL is a coaches league and his one of the best in the biz!

Benton's OL in Houston was bad last year. There is only so much you can do without talent.

I believe our Olines in 72 & 73 were made up of a bunch of cut and undrafted players. I have a dream....

I have no idea what to expect from this bunch. But, I will happily take this group of guys and this o-line coach right now over last years line.

First off, it can't be worse than last year. Secondly, Lazor will help as he wont be as prehistoric and predictable as Sherman.
Most of all we won 8 games and were in position to win ten with that oline..They don't need to be good. If the unit is average or even below average and the QB takes the next step it should be a better year

It's hard for me to say either way. I hope for the best, but I'm not holding my breath....I was much more optimistic before pouncy went down. Now im more pessimistic, but who knows whats going to happen? No one.

Early game are gonna be tuff. I's sure Mr Bill will come up with something to take advantage, and then there is Buff and KC who are VG vs run and getting to the QB.

This year we have an OL that actually fit into a ZBS. Last year we had loafs like Jerry, Incognito, and McKinnie in a ZBS. We didn't have the right players to fit our scheme. I expect our line to improve this year.

still keeping my bet with you. :D

I have no reason to believe they will be worse. The three tackles (Martin, McKinnie, Clabo) shouldn't have been playing for anyone last season. The two guards at the beginning didn't belong in the system.

IMO, it will be harder to be worse than it will be to be better.

Albert > Martin Mckinnie
Thomas/Colledge = Cog/Brenner
Brenner/Garner < Pouncey (when pouncey is back its equal obviously)
Smith >=? Jerry
James >Clabo

This is just what is see but i know the chemistry wont be there but i see we have gotten better at 3 of the 5 spots, a wildcard on how Dallas Thomas does, and weaker at center with the pouncey injury. On paper i see it as better but who knows till the ball is snapped.

I am sure this line will take its lumps this season. The starting center is out for the first half of the season. You have some young guys who haven't played at all (Thomas) or haven't started regularly and did not fare well in pass pro (Smith). You have a rookie in James. Colledge is on his last legs but is a savvy vet. You have a promising newbie in Turner who likely won't be ready to start. Albert is a proven commodity. But, even he will need time to adjust to his linemates. Consistency and experience playing together are important in ensuring the proper synergy occurs for the unit to play like a well oiled machine. Despite all of these negatives, this line should still be a big improvement over the past, and that's a sad testament to the prior roster. At least our new faces are system-fits.

And, over time, this line has significant potential. Pouncey is a top flight center. Albert and James can be a solid tackle combo. Billy Turner can turn into a nasty, move guard. But before all that potential can be realized, these guys will need experience playing together (and some even need any experience they can get, period). The 2015 o line could actually be a strength if things come together the way Miami has planned.
