Alex Smith is innacurate garbage

the Real Garbarge is the WR's that the 49ers had. They suck and Crabtree couldnt hold Marshalls jock.

Smith is a solid qb.I hope he signs with us.

My cousin is a die hard 49er fan, I've seen Smith play plenty. The dude is innaccurate garbage who needs all day to throw. If we sign him as a starter with starter money, we deserve to lose. Harbaugh coddled the guy like a baby last year into a decent year. He's proven mediocrity, period.

Philbin has sad plenty he covets accuracy above all else in a QB, so signing Alex Smith boggles the mind.

I don't know what's going on, but my faith in Philbin is vanishing quickly. I really hope Tannehill is the guy they've always wanted to start with so we could mold him to this new offense.

Ugh.
Why exactly is this? Philbin is not making the decisions on who to sign. That is Ireland! If anything, the fact that Philbin has not resigned from his position speaks volumes about his patience. I get the feeling that Philbin has very little power.

I can only crack up at all the defenders of this 8 year QB still in development.

You sound like me way back in the day when I defended Feidler to outsiders claiming he's ready to step it up and pulling numbers outta the stat lines to fit the argument.

Smith is just not a leader, he can't make quick decisions. He gets time and when he does he gets sacked and blows the play.

He had three possessions in the final drives of the NFC Championship game, three drives that all ended in three and outs. That is prototypical Smith.

He is a waste of time, period. Fool
yourselves otherwise if you want.

Oh... i didn't realize missing your receiver added to your completion percentage... Learn something new everyday I guess

I for one, am completely on board with Alex Smith

 wow I wasn't aware a football message board was so misinformed. When did I ever say that? Straw man arguments make you look great.. No surprise you are completely on board with A Smith I'm sure you have seen him play lots.

If our new QB is Alex Smith I'm going to drive my car through the front ****ing door of the Dolphins' Facility loaded with TNT.

(NOTE: I'M NOT ACTUALLY GOING TO DO THAT, I'LL JUST BE REALLY MAD)

Chad Pennington regarded as one of the most ACCURATE passers in NFL history...66%....how does it not?

Accurate passers more often then not have a high comp %. However this doesn't indicate ball placement or where the ball was being thrown. Henne didn't have a bad comp % but the guy checked down and when he hit WR down field it wasn't in stride. Not a foreign concept, I'm pretty sure any one with a grasp on how football is played can understand this.

Ohhh.....now I know why I couldn't understand it. Finheaven would be nothing without the football geniuses that keep us all educated and on track. Thank you for your tutelage.

It doesn't?? Then what does it show?

Let me ask you this... What if I have a 100% completion percentage but I'm throwing nothing but five yard outs and check downs; my receivers are having to stop and adjust to the pass. Am I accurate?
I guarantee most of you haven't watched more than 5 Alex Smith games ever are defending him  it's great.

I believe the poster was being sarcastic because your statement that "completion % does not translate into accuracy." is totally absurd. Completion % is directly related to accuracy. Please explain to me how someone who completes 60%+ is inaccurate? It seems pretty simple to me....if you put the ball where it should be then your receiver will catch it more often= high completion %

Totally absurd? Yeah well that's just like your opinion man. I've all ready stated it here but if you can't even wrap your mind around it then there is no point.

The fact that you are arguing the correlation between the two is absurd. The fact that you insult anyone who doesn't share your opinion is laughable. For the record it is not that difficult to understand your point just as it is not difficult to see you are wrong.lol

Alex Smith is at best a game manager. For all the talk of his mobility, it resulted in leading the league in sacks while not exactly being a huge rushing threat. I'm amazed anyone can get themselves excited over the prospects of bringing him in. You only have to watch that game against the Giants in the playoffs. VD running wild made the numbers seem nice, but Smith wasn't good enough to win that game and continually missed throws when the team needed him.
