Alex Smith serious about Miami per Peter King

Regardless guys, we can't go into the season with Matt Moore, Losman, and Devlin.. I think Smith would be a good insurance policy as long as we don't overpay. What happens if we miss out on Tannehill or Weeden? Or if our staff has no faith that any of the rookies will be able to step in right away and play? What if we have no intention of taking a QB in this draft but instead use this year to fill as many holes as possible and go all in on a QB next draft. I think having Moore and Smith fight it out while building the rest of the team around them is better than wasting picks to trade up for Tannehill. And it's DEFINATELY better than bringing in Tebow. Smith finally had some good coaching and he played really well. 17 tds with only 5 picks in a run oriented offense with vernon davis as the only consistant receiving threat (a great one, but the only consistant one). I'd be ok with taking a chance on him. Besides, what better option do we have at this point?

Losman is a FA.. Thank GOD!

Smith is butt hurt right now; he'll fast get over it and regroup with a conciliatory Harbaugh. He's not gonna leave the QB Whisperer- the only one of many influences who made him look better than he probably is. :idk: Better for them, for him and for us, as I cannot see an appreciable upgrade over Moore, especially at 3-4X the price. My problem is not that, it's just the way our brainiacs keep getting played for leverage especially when they should have known better with Harbaugh, Fisher and his colluding agent/agent son and now Smith and his double dealing agent Tom Condom.

He's had one good season in the NFL, coached by a excellent HC who gets the best out of QB's. I can see he reverting back to the old Alex Smith once he's sign his big contract. Could be wrong, but my gut says this would be a bad move for the organisation.

Makes sense. Sorry I just like hearing people's explanations instead of a possibly regurgitated short yes/no answer. I definitely could see that (your thoughts) happening as well, but would be interested to see what he could do in Philbin's offense. I think if we run similar a offense they ran in GB, that it fits what Smith is good at.

if smith comes here i'll bet money that miami doesn't use a 1st or 2nd round pick on the qb position...money...

Alex Smith as our QB solution.. what a joke. I don't think he's coming here. He's just leveraging for money from SF and he probably wants them to show him he's wanted because he sounds like a pissy little bitch.

Wow that's a huge limb you are out there on captain. Careful you might fall 2 inches and hurt yourself.

there are conflicting rumors going around. A lot of SanFran people are saying Alex Smith isn't one to let pride get in the way of things and pointed out that Mike Nolan and Mike Singletary treated him a lot worse. But a lot of other people are reporting that part of Smith does want a fresh start and after meeting Philbin he is torn on what to do

Love the OP talking about a new era with Brandon Marshall in the photo lol.

I like Alex Smith, but he is probably 10% better than Matt Moore at 400% of the cost. Makes not sense to me.

Maybe they should cancel the protest until after Smith signs with the 49ers

For 8 Million per.....NO THANKS!

Its not your money at the end of the day. Any money saved on a QB will need to be spent anyway, probably by overpaying a nose tackle or interior lineman. IF the coaches think Smith is a significant upgrade, then do it. Personally i don't think he is but im not paid to make that call.

Have you seen how close a lot of our losses always end up being? 10% could mean more than it sounds like.

You can make an argument either way as far as what he may be thinking.

It's also possible he now knows for sure, if they get a chance to replace him, they will. He may not be comfortable with that. He may simply at this point want to go to a team that is desperate in a way, and he may want to be wanted.

But, personally, I think in the end he will go back. The 49'ers are really close, and they will pay well as well.

that was in response to someone on here sayin that he'd be ok with smith and then drafting tannehill or weeden...but to be honest with you i suggest you pick your battles with some dope you can win em against...cause i'm not that guy
