Alex Smith willing to be Niners’ backup plan to Peyton Manning

Could Matt hasselbeck be an option if Manning goes to the Titans? I wouldn't mind signing Hasselbeck and drafting a rookie.

So let me get this straight? Steven Ross said his priority was to get a Franshise QB to Miami and Ireland has struck out completely. No Manning, No Flynn, No Smith, no nothing. Short of RG III and Luck, there is no one in this draft that will be anything but an average if that NFL QB. How pathetic!

He won't talk to us he will rejoin Holmgrem in Cleveland.

Seriously though, of all the things to be upset about over the last week, this really shouldn't be among them. Why should Smith commit to us now when the starting job on a Super Bowl contender could be his again in 24 hours...

I have to agree. The Dolphins have missed out on every opportunity. It's sad.

Hasselback will go to the browns if Titans sign Manning. If quote is true then we all know what is going to happen with our number 1 pick. We will be forced to draft a QB. Gerrard will be a public relations nightmare. Henne is better.

So now ppl are slamming Ireland for not getting the player they didn't want?

This fan base...

Doesn't make sense when before Flynn signed with Seattle that was Smiths next stop.

Forced to draft a QB that won't start for three years? This franchise is ****ed.

Wow. This is officially rock bottom. The only way this could get worse is if Tim Tebow refused a trade to the Dolphins...

Agents must love the Dolphins. They are always there to be played and used, so the players or coaches can end up with the best deal from the teams they are actually interested in playing for or coaching. At this point, the Dolphins should be contracted, like they were considering doing with some MLB teams a few years ago.

Three straight losing seasons, no cap space even though they have a minimum of good players, no plan, terrible leadership...it all adds up to the AFC East doormat.
