Alex Smith willing to be Niners’ backup plan to Peyton Manning

i think building the team up during the draft should and can be done with some good decision making of course.
 
call me a fake fan, call me a fair weather fan, call me whatever you want, but after 31 years and the damn logo tattooed on my forearm, I am finding it more and more difficult to see ANY thing positive about the direction of this team, we clearly have the most inept moron of an owner and a GM, and Philbin has to be sitting at home with his head in his hands crying to his wife wondering what the hell he got himeself into! we are officially the laughing stock of the sports world, at this point, I dont even care who plays qb for this sinking ship. the only hope is that Ireland goes down with it. Hell, as jacked up as the jets franchise is, Sporano has to be grinning from ear to ear that he no where near this train wreck.

Tim.... John can I stay and play either fb, te or h-back?
 
If Smith really is willing to be a "Backup Plan" for SF, I would pull the offer to him. First of all, I wouldn't want to be HIS "Backup Plan", and second, is that the kind of guy you want as your QB?

I agree, but if he refused a trade here, it would show how truly laughable our FO appears to other NFL players.

If this story is true I would pull my offer for Smith! If he doesn't want to be our QB first then I don't want him. That said why would he spend all that time meeting/negotiating with us if he didn't want to play here?
 
Best news I heard all day! Lets hope manning goes somewhere else. Say NO to Alex Smith! Ireland obviously needs to be saved....from himself!
 
Me and Nubs were on top of this in the morning...

It was a leverage play all along...But we ****ed up with Flynn...

I guess Ross/Ireland want to throw away 2012...

I would do it. He would lead to Matt Barkley who would solve our QB issues for the next 12-15 years.

Screw it, I want Tebow. We'll go 2-14 and it will be fun to watch, at least.
