First and Foremost I want to thank number1fin for putting the video together. He did all of the hard work, all I had to do was watch the film. I didn't feel right posting the video in this thread so when you have time click on one of the links below and it will show just how brutal the offensive line was. Number1fin if you feel like doing so please do.

One quick characteristic of Tannehill is that he does not take his eyes off downfield when he is in the pocket. He expects the linemen to do their job so he can do his. He always stands tall in the pocket trying to make the throw. This also shows that he didn't become shell shocked from all of the pressure he received.

Now lets get to the critique

Sack #1

Four man rush. LDE and LDT both beat their man. The LDE pass rush to the outside forces Tannehill to step up into the pocket where he is met by the LDT. Play time from snap of the ball to Tannehill being sacked is 2.24 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack #2

Four man rush. LDE and RDE both beat their man and push the linemen into QB with bull rush. Tannehill begins to step up into the pocket but Martin is beat badly to the inside instead of continuing to wash the RDE out of the play. Play time from snap to Tannehill being sacked is 2.88 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 3

Four man rush. LDE and RDE both beat their man forcing Tannehill to step up into pocket. RDT then sheds Incognito's block, collapsing the pocket for the sack. Play time from snap to Tannehill being sacked is 2.79 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 4

Four man rush. Tannehill appears to hold the ball to long and Clabo is beat by the LDE. I put this one on Tannehill. He needs to feel this one. Time from snap to Tannehill being sacked 2.79 seconds. Determination: QB at fault.

Sack # 5

Five man rush. Before Tannehill can even complete his drop he sees the LDE beating Clabo. He tries to scramble but the second d-lineman catches him from behind. Time from snap to Tannehill being sacked is 2.74 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 6

Five man rush. RB misses block on blitzing LOLB who hits Tannehill as he is in the throwing motion causing him to fumble. Time from snap to Tannehill being sacked 2.5 seconds. Determination: RB at fault.

Sack # 7.

Five man rush. RB misses block on blitzing MLB. Time from snap to Tannehill being sacked is 1.98 seconds. Determination: RB at fault.

Sack # 8.

Three man rush. Clabo for some reason gives the LDE the outside rush when he has help from the guard up the middle. No excuse for this type of play from Clabo as he just didn't get out of his stance. Time from snap until Tannehill sacked is 2.5 seconds: Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 9

Four man rush. Tannehill holds the ball to long on play action. Time from snap to Tannehill being sacked is 4.3 seconds. Determination: QB at fault.

Sack # 10

Four man rush. Tannehill steps up into pocket but Martin is beat by an inside move instead of continuing to wash the RDE up the field. Time from snap until Tannehill sacked is 2.63 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 11

Four man rush. Play action pass and Simms is beat badly by the LOLB. Before Tannehill can begin to look down the field he is sacked. Time from snap of the ball until Tannehill sacked is 2.44 seconds. Determination: TE at fault.

Sack # 12

Five man rush. Play action pass. Incognito steps on Tannehill's foot as he is pulling. Before Tannehill can reset his feet the blitzing CB is in his face for the sack. Tannehill did recognize the blitz but due to unforeseen circumstances could not get the ball off. Time from snap to Tannehill sacked is 2.18 seconds. I don't blame this one on anyone.

Sack # 13

Five man rush. MLB blows up running back on delayed blitz. Tannehill had no chance. Time from snap to Tannehill sacked is 2.03 seconds. Determination: RB at fault.

Sack # 14

6 man rush. Overload blitz to right side of the offensive line. Tannehill makes his first two reads who are covered. Three defenders then converge on Tannehill, two from the left, one from the right. Time from snap of the ball to Tannehill sacked is 2.52 seconds. Determination: Coverage sack.

Sack # 15

4 man rush. Martin beaten badly to the outside. Tannehill feels the pressure but can't step up because the interior pocket is collapsing. Tannehill is then caught from behind trying to scramble. Time from snap to Tannehill sack is 2.92 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 16

4 man rush. Tannehill has good pocket and begins to roll out but not fast enough where he is caught by the RDE. Time from snap of the ball to Tannehill sack is 3.57 seconds. Determination: QB at fault.

Sack # 17

Sack #18

4 man rush. Tannehill steps up into pocket but holds the ball to long waiting for deep route to open up. RB is wide open in the flat. Time from snap until Tannehill sack, 3.15 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 19

5 man rush. Tackles wash the DE's out and Tannehill steps up into the pocket. Incognito is beaten badly on an inside stunt giving Tannehill nowhere to go. Time from snap until Tannehill sack, 2.2 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 20

4 man rush. Tackles wash the DE's out and Tannehill steps up into the pocket. Jerry is beaten badly by the LDT giving Tannehill nowhere to go. Time from snap until Tannehill sack, 2.44 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 21

4 man rush. Tannehill is looking for Miller on a wheel route. He pump fakes and both the CB and safety bite on the fake. Suggs then beats Martin to the inside sacking Tannehill. Plays like this are ones that kill the offense. The route is there and the QB sees it. He only needs the line to sustain their blocks for 3 seconds. Unfortunately Tannehill is hit 2.89 seconds after the snap for the sack. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 22

4 man rush. Suggs bull rushes Martin right into Tannehill. Time from snap to Tannehill sack, 2.23 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 23

4 man rush. All four linemen are bull rush right into the quarterback. No pocket develops no is there any escape route. Time from snap to Tannehill sack is 2.35 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 24

4 man rush. LDE walk Clabo back into Tannehill. Miller then proceeds to miss on his chip block which Tannehill is expecting. Time from snap to Tannehill sack is 2.2 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at RB at fault.

Sack # 25

4 man rush. Clabo whiffs on Williams on inside slant. Williams almost kills Tannehill. Time from snap to Tannehill sack is 1.63 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

Sack # 26

Sack # 27

Five man rush. OLB has a free blitz on Tannehill. Tannehill needs to diagnose this pre-snap and doesn't. Tannehill makes first defender miss but not the second. Time from snap to sack, 2.59 seconds. Determination: QB at fault.

Sack # 28

Five man rush. CB/nickel slot blitz that is disguised very well and not picked up by QB/RB/T. Determination: No fault by anyone

Sack # 29

5 man rush. DE's are washed out by the tackles but the DT's collapse the interior pocket while Tannehill is trying to step up. Time from snap until Tannehill sack is 2.84 seconds. Determination: Offensive line at fault.

There you have it. Based on my film review Tannehill was responsible for about 14% of the sacks on the offense as a whole. Another thing to take note of is that last years offensive line was horrible while only facing 4 rusher. I look forward to all of the thumbs up/down!

yoeman's work, thank you; Earlier today, I put Tannehill's responsibility at about 25%, the majority of culpability to the OL, although the RBs between their ineptitude and inability to block, and Sherman, who turned out to be the 2nd coming of Henning are far from blameless too. Your in depth analysis is comparable to the one published a few weeks ago (think it was PFF's) which attributed 5 Sacks, or roughtly 5.8% to RT17 which seems low. Your 14% might even be a little low, but despite the Tanne-hemorrhoidal's Rainmanish whining otherwise, at least it's ballpark. Good job.

the time ellapsed element you added from snap to play dead is very interesting and appreciated...just keep in mind it does not always tell the tale on who's at fault etc...i applaud the effort...i know it was a lot of work

How many standard deviations is that from the mean

PS - Nice job, I've watched the video several times before but was always too lazy to post about it

Not sure why mnphinfan wasn't nominated for best overall poster this year. I will make sure he is next year. He always has quality posts.

Thanks for posting mnphinfan, good stuff!. Your work is greatly appreciated.

Nice work! I can only imagine RT with a all pro Oline... Can't wait!

In my evaluation of our sacks I had Tannehill at about 10 percent responsibility on our sacks which I think is very respectable.
Thanks for taking your time and giving your insight. Anyone that is saying that Tannehill is anywhere near 50 percent responsible has no clue what they are watching when it comes to pass blocking.

Damn that OL was pure trash. That 77 guy really sucks

I can't take any credit for the videos I post on finheaven.

I just happen to come across them while surfing youtube and if I see something worthwhile I come back and share it with the community.

I appreciate the shout-out though, mnphinfan.

I can't even begin to break down the sacks that thorough and do it justice as much as you did.

Great job by you!
